Fentawn Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Hey guys looking for some advice. I am planning a fishing trip with my father later on this year in March-April. I would like to get 2-3 days of solid fishing on this trip. Do any of you have some recommendations on a great fishing areas/lodges/camps in Florida? I am not opposed to saltwater fishing if any of you know of good areas. Also, I would like to get a guide for 1 of these days. Any suggestions? Quote

Super User soflabasser Posted January 7, 2016 Super User Posted January 7, 2016 Lake Toho or one of the well known big bass lakes in Winter Haven. Quote
FloridaFishinFool Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 In mid to late March when the bass spawn here, the big ones can be caught relatively easily on the St. Johns river. Chris Lane won the elite series doing it! And if you choose to go to Toho, go to west lake Toho, not East lake Toho. West lake has been producing some huge bass lately and in my opinion is in the top 5 here in Florida. Stick Marsh and Farm 13 are in there too, but that place is presently being expanded and is not fully developed yet, but still good. Okeechobee is another one... Another issue on the Toho lakes is too much commercial activity. East Lake toho has daily airboat rides and they routinely tear up the vegetation on the sides of the lake and it is floating all over the place fouling up fishing big time. And not sure about winter time, but east lake also has had parasailing going on too. I avoid East Lake Toho like the plague. But west Lake Toho is another story... Quote
Fentawn Posted January 8, 2016 Author Posted January 8, 2016 Alright thanks for the help. My dad was interested in Lake George. Anyone have any experience on that lake? I am leaning toward Lake Toho for now. Quote
BassObsessed Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Toho is a good choice. I fished it in March and February in 2 different years and had real good results both times. I can pm you some info on a guide if you want. Quote
