.Paxamus. Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Hey guys, want to start painting some reels that I have and have a question. Can you use an airbrush with a full size air compressor? I have a real nice full size air compressor and don't want to have to buy a smaller one, can I just turn down the flow and pressure on my large one? Any advice will help, I just don't want to mess up my reels. Thanks Quote
the crab Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Yes, but you'll need to buy the proper fittings. Quote
.Paxamus. Posted April 29, 2010 Author Posted April 29, 2010 thanks does anyone got any suggestions for a decent airbrush gun that is not crazy expensive? Quote
bigbaitfisher Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 The biggest thing is to get a water filter to connect the airbrush hose to. Otherwise you'll be spraying an air/water mixture that will NOT be good. It will splatter your paint. Quote
BobP Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 Lots of pro airbrush artists use tool compressors. If one job is all you'll be doing with the airbrush, a cheap single action brush like a Badger 200 may be all you need. If you think you'll be using it for other tasks over time, getting a more expensive internal mix airbrush like a Badger 170, a Paasche VL, or an Iwata Revolution B (all in the $75 range) might be right. Airbrushes operate at 10-45 psi, so your compressor needs to accommodate that range. A moisture trap (present on some tool compressors) is also needed. Quote
