Super User Ratherbfishing Posted January 5, 2016 Super User Posted January 5, 2016 Every now and then I'll discover that the paint on a lure has gotten soft and mushy due to a chemical reaction with rogue soft plastic. When i separate them, the paint remains soft. Is there a way to "fix" this? I don't intend to (or hope not to) sand and repaint the lure. I would just like to harden the mushy paint. is there a "fixative" that will usually work? Quote
Super User MickD Posted January 5, 2016 Super User Posted January 5, 2016 I have no experience with this, but I would try a couple things. One would be the quick dry clear fingernail coating (Sally Henson) over the whole area and out a ways hoping to capture the soft inside a hard coating. Second would be UV cure epoxy in the hard formula applied similarly. Good luck. Quote
kcdinkerz Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 What kind of lures? Hard baits or jig heads? I've had this happen on a few cheap jig heads left in the car during summer heat. Quote
