Super User bigbill Posted January 4, 2016 Super User Posted January 4, 2016 Has anyone noticed the earths axis is changing its position to the sun? To me the sun is setting in a different spot than before? Weird?
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 4, 2016 Super User Posted January 4, 2016 Wow! And now the days are getting longer, too. Must be Global Warming... 2
Super User buzzed bait Posted January 4, 2016 Super User Posted January 4, 2016 bill are you on some residual perma-trip or still in the processing of dosing or dropping? sun still rises in the east and sets in the west around me....
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted January 4, 2016 BassResource.com Administrator Posted January 4, 2016 Bill, this is a normal occurance. It's been happening for centuries. It's why we have seasons, and why the days are shorter in winter, and longer in summer. The seasons are caused by the tilt of the Earth's rotational axis away or toward the sun as it travels through its year-long path around the sun. The Earth has a tilt of 23.5 degrees relative to the "ecliptic plane" (the imaginary surface formed by it's almost-circular path around the sun). The tilt toward the sun is maximized during Northern Hemisphere summer in late June (the "summer solstice"). At this time, the amount of sunlight reaching the Northern Hemisphere is at a maximum. In late December, on the date of the "winter solstice", the Earth's tilt away from the sun is maximized, leading to a minimum of sunlight reaching the Northern Hemisphere. The seasons, of course, are reversed in the Southern Hemisphere. Now if only we knew what a double-rainbow meant. Now THAT would be something! 4

Did you also know that every spot on the earth receives the same amount of sunlight per year, and that the average day, and the average night are twelve hours in duration. (Disclaimer, the refraction of the earth's atmosphere does affect this to a slight degree) Every day on the equator is twelve hours long. (again, slightly more due to the refraction factor). Ergo, there are no seasonal changes at the equator. 1

Super User F14A-B Posted January 4, 2016 Super User Posted January 4, 2016 Sorry bigbill, can't see the sun for all the clouds... 1
Super User bigbill Posted January 4, 2016 Author Super User Posted January 4, 2016 Search this, at scientificamerica.com they say the axis is shifting due to global warming. Now I don't believe in global warming it's a catch phrase for I don't know what's going on. I believe it's just the earth going through its cycles it's done for millions of years. Some predict a pole shift. It makes me wonder if our weather will change too? Maybe we can get those bigger giant bass that California and Florida have up north or maybe we become the south. More research is needed.
Super User J Francho Posted January 4, 2016 Super User Posted January 4, 2016 Shifting poles now? I thought this about the axis. LOL. Whatever, you're skirting political ground here. 2

There biggest most powerful experiment/test yet is suppose to happen on 1/07/2016. Godbless everyone.

BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted January 4, 2016 BassResource.com Administrator Posted January 4, 2016 Let's keep the topic of global warming off the table. Seems people can't discuss it without using it to further their political views. Politics, as you know, is one of two forbidden topics here (religion being the other). 1
