rubba bubba Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 2 MHX's and a St. Croix. The MHX decals I created myself (as the ones from Mudhole are uber-lame) and thanks go to dick for pointing me to some good decal paper that actually worked. The rods are all for me, hence why the handles are all the same.: Quote
hmongkidBee Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 wow very nice custom rods. Too bad I'm getting out of the hobby. Quote
I Love BassResource Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Top notch work my friend, very very nice! Love the decals! Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted April 21, 2010 Super User Posted April 21, 2010 Very nice work. I have a great appreciation of the giude wraps you used here. I know they took some time. I toyed with decorative butt wrap (fish net design) on my split handle rod, do you have any experience with that? I would like to gain some knowledge with the technique. Again, very nice work. Quote
rubba bubba Posted April 21, 2010 Author Posted April 21, 2010 Thanks for the kind words everyone. Jigfishn - I haven't done a fishnet wrap but do a search out there on what's needed. Decorative wraps are actually pretty easy to do, you just have to find how to start the pattern. Quote
Super User flechero Posted April 21, 2010 Super User Posted April 21, 2010 well done, the decals look fantastic. The wraps look clean as well. Quote
RobE Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 I likes, Bubba! The blue / silver on the MHX in particular. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Nice work. I know what you mean about the Mud Hole decals. Not only are they unattractive, they are often creased or otherwise unusable anyway. Quote
the crab Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Nice work. Won't one of you guys point me in the direction of that decal paper too? Thanks. Quote
I Love BassResource Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 http://www.papilio.com/ Inkjet Waterproof is what I mostly use. You could get pretty creative with some of the clear sheets tho. Become proficient with Photoshop and the sky is the limit. Quote
rubba bubba Posted April 22, 2010 Author Posted April 22, 2010 White matte waterproof vinyl is what dick is referring to and is what I used. I tested clear and it worked but only if it were to be used on a light colored blank (i.e. white). Or if you painted the blank a light color right where you will put the clear decal. Quote
bowtech_182 Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Rods look great. I like the decals. Do you use Photoshop, Gimp, etc? Quote
basspro96 Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Awesome! I really want to get started doing this..But can't figure out what to get! Quote
