This is from Wxrisk.com, the professional weather guy who is usually on target as compared with the TV and radio weather people.

Not saying this will occur but just giving everyone a heads up so you will watch the weather in your neck of the woods.

Remember, storms develop as they wish and the exact day it will hit us is subject to change but the week of January 11th could be our first snow of the new year.

The European ensemble (IMAGE #3 ) is quite aggressive with a snowstorm threat for portions of the middle Atlantic and New England. It is also far and away the most accurate of all the models. It has a much bigger and more organize LOW moving off the NC coast ... the air mass is colder and the model correctly sees the blocking pattern developing over Greenland.. which forced the LOW to stay to the south. This in turn means that most of the middle Atlantic away from the coast appears to be cold enough for at least significant snowfall.

I prefer the European ensembles solution which shows a significant but NOT massive East coast winter storm for JAN 11-12.

Stay tuned. Should be interesting to see what is predicted and what actually happens.

Keep us posted. I have a bad feeling about all this warm weather we been having.

The blizzard of '78 comes to mind. We could get hammered again. The old '55 jeep could get a workout.

Won't be surprised if it happens. It's extremely windy and a little chilly down here right now.Last week the temperature was in the 80's.Lets see what happens.

His last update has it as a rain event, the low will pass before the cold air comes in. Unless you live in Ohio up thru New England.

Yes!

Will not be a snow and ice event for the east coast.

Dodged a bullet this time.

Time to move the John Deere to the garage attached to the house, remove the mower deck, and mount the snowblower.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

If we had snow like that in Virginia we would never be able to leave our homes.

Now that's some snow!

Two years ago in February you did.  We ran into that blizzard along I-81 between Troutville to about fifty miles south of Troutville.

We were on our way to Daytona, having left home about early in the a.m.  It started snowing in earnest in the late afternoon, so we stopped and got a room just off exit 150. Got up just before daylight to find a foot and a half of snow on the ground.  Went to the Cracker Barrel for breakfast.  Stowed the luggage in the truck and off we went.  Wouldn't have done it without a four wheel drive with a locking rear end.

We made about forty miles southbound and the traffic had come to a stop.  Fortunately there was one of those turnarounds for official use only so we did a 180 and got in the northbound lane.  Back to our room, and chilled out for a few hours.  In the afternoon we made another attempt.

Still only one lane open.  Even more big semi rigs down in the ditches, some rolled over onto their side and others were upside down.  The roads were still slushy and slippery until we got to Knoxville, TN.

I'll hope WxRisk is wrong here and we'll have
a balmy 70º with winds from the south at a
lovely 5mph. :others-153:

Yesterday's temps never getting to 30º down here
were cold enough, thanks very much.
