Okay so I have a new setup down packed for what I want , I can't afford 10 different poles for all different things so I'm getting the G Loomis E6X casting rod, 7'1 medium heavy, or heavy fast action.. For an all around setup... The reel is a Shimano Ctitica 7,2:1 left retrieve. I am going to put 50lb braid on it , because I love frogging , but this is going to be my only rod and reel bait casting setup... So here's the question , if I wanted to use like a deep diving crankbait or Texas rig up some stuff, like something that doesn't need 50lb braid, would putting on like a 15lb flouro leader be okay for deep diving crankbaits and Texas rigs and stuff like that? The braid is Suffix 832 50 lb low vi green.. And I think the flouro will be Seagur invisex... Thank you in the mean time !!!

For the texas rigs, the 15 lb fluoro leader will be fine. Or you could even go straight braid. But I wouldn't throw the deep divers.

Would you know what would be good for them ? Because I am going to this new spot with lake trout and big smallmouth and it's about 30 - 40 ft deep

1. Go to the G. Loomis web page and read about your rod and how G. Loomis suggests it be used for specific fishing techniques.

2.  Check the diameter of your 50lb braid to get the line test of monofilament equivalent make sure the line test meets the rod's parameters.

3.  If all is OK with the line test mono parameters you can then use the 50lb braid (12-pound mono?).

4.  You can add any leader you want as long as it matches the monofilament test of your 50lb braid, such as the 12-pounds mentioned above.

5. You can fish the rod as G. Loomis directs without worrying about breaking the stick.

Have fun.
