located in central Florida i use a lot of top water hard baits and im looking for a strictly top water hard bait set up. i wanted to know what the best rod for this technique would be. thank you.

I can't tell you what "the best" setup would be but can tell you that I prefer a Medium power Fast action rod for most top water's. It loads up well on cast and hookset, but the fast action is good for quick twitches and pops. As for a reel any 6:1 ratio reel should work, as long as you aren't throwing on either extreme of the weight spectrum. Also, take a minute to introduce yourself in the Introductions sub-forum.

Exactly what I prefer as well. Medium Power Fast Action gives you the forgiveness to fight the fish with treble hooks and still has the fast tip to make accurate casts with poppers and walk the dog with walkers/poppers. Another thing to consider is the length, go with a shorter rod, because it is easier to work the bait with. I prefer 6'6".

I also find a shorter rod to be idea. It allows you to work tip down without hitting boat, ground, or water.
