Carrington Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 what is a good website to buy bulk lead to make weights and jigs out of? Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted April 15, 2010 Super User Posted April 15, 2010 I used to get my lead from tire stores. Old weights are always laying around. Falcon Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted April 15, 2010 Super User Posted April 15, 2010 If you want it cheap or maybe even free check out hospitals and group doctors' offices. They get radioactive meds in lead containers. I got over 200# of it free a few years ago. If you have any metal recycling centers check them. I bought lead for .25 # at one a while back. Quote
MattinOK Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Here is a trick I found. If you have a public rifle range go at a time when you know it will not be busy. Ours has a 10ft high dirk embankment to stop the bullets. Just go and dig the lead slugs out of that if you have on. Plus slug lead is soft and melts at a low temp. Quote
Carrington Posted April 16, 2010 Author Posted April 16, 2010 ok thanks, i just bought some off ebay but i think next time im going to just get some lead pipes. Quote

But Lead is getting ridiculous now Quote

I got a lifetime supply by sifting slugs out of the sand backstop at a local gun club range (the range is also used by law enforcement agencies). I should add that I am, of course, a member of the club and had permission to remove the lead. I probably have 200 lbs. of clean, soft lead. That'll make a lot of 1/4 oz. jigs ;D Tom Quote
