I don't have any "glass" rods, have a few composites and graphite cranking rods.  As far as feeling, I crank on braid with leaders so it still transmits the feel.  The reason most fish glass is the slower softer action and give in the rod.  And welcome to the forums.

I as the Capt'n don't have any glass rods, really don't see the need. I use a composite for all cranking with 12# Yo Zuri which gives me the sensitivity I need. With the rod I use (Phenix X11) and the little stretch the line gives, a glass rod would be too much.

I'm SUPER happy with Dobyns Champion 704CB GLASS! 

Perfect loading tip that simply launches a medium crank. Also enough give to not rip the bait out. 

I also like it a lot for slinging 78 and 100 Pointers and Visions.  Lose fewer fish with the forgiving nature of the Rod. 

I was really very surprised at the performance of this Rod!!

and, a good value also.

I have & fish Glass, composite & graphite sticks for different type applications but all for crankbaits.

Each anglers preference over one or the other all comes down to what You like; they all work.

I'll say that the type & test of line I use affect the performance of each system.

So despite how much experience I may have with a certain type of rod, Fishing a glass stick is just one of those deals where if you really want to know what it's like, you're going to have to experience it for yourself, my description may not be how you perceive the performance.

btw - after reading & reading & reading about the three different rods - I just finally went out and got my own and fished them.

I'm glad I did & I learned a ton.  Best part was - I got to go FISHING !

I have a Phenix 7'9" glass and the only reason I got it is for throwing small stuff like Shad Raps along with medium cranks. I couldn't get enough tip flex with my Duckett crank rod while casting for the light stuff. 

As far as once the lure is in the water there isn't a lot of difference. I think the glass helps pin them a little better but I don't lose many fish on either.

A quality glass glass Rod can be plenty sensitive for crank baits and have backbone to move fish. The now discontinued Lamiglas sr 705 is a prime example. I like graphite with a little faster action for ripping from grass .

I have 3 Abu Winch Series rods the 7' 7'6 and the 7'11 which are all composite and I love how they feel and react to a bite and fighting the fish but I will say I fish a graphite Falcon Bucoo when throwing a lipless, especially through the grass, I just think it rips out easier. Just like everyone else said, buy and try, it's really the only way to tell if you'll like it.

I've owned both and recently tried a "blended" rod. It's an irod gen2 rip rap special. it's graphite with a glass tip it's not quite as sensitive as a full graphite rod but imo it's worth it. I love being able to sling 1/4oz bandit 200s a long way. I think that you get the best of both worlds with a blended rod so that's what I would go with.

Glass + #30 braid is a match made in heaven.  Hard to go wrong with a Powell Diesel Glass Crankbait.  I throw 90% of my cranks and topwaters on a MH Powell Diesel Glass Crankbait and it serves me very, very well.

Many companies glass rods fish very differently from each other. It's one of those things you just need to fish to decide if you like them or not. Some like them and some don't.

I have the 7'9" Phenix XG-3 glass crankbait rod as well and I absolutely love it for medium sized crankbaits and chatterbaits.  I use 20lb FC Sniper (no braid) and don't have any problems with hookups/losing fish.  I don't plan on ever switching back from glass having used it.  Best thing would be to try and borrow a rod or buy one and see for yourself if it's your cup of tea.

I've owned and fished with several different fiberglass cranking rods.   Be mindful that this was 8 or 10 years ago.   I didn't like them.   I think that if I fished a couple of hundred days per year and had finely honed reflexes that I could probably learn to appreciate the so called advantages that glass offers.   But I don't.    I fish square bills and med divers on a 7'4" graphite stick - rated MH but really on the medium side of MH.  This rod is more sensitive than any glass rod that I've ever owned.   I can throw lures as far as I need to most of the time with that rod.

I guess I can't see any advantage glass would have over graphite, and with a loss in sensitivity. Fished glass for a bunch of years and can't see going back. Graphite was a godsend.

Catching big trout on the Great Lakes back in 1981: "Got one! Oh, the lines hung on a fin -thump!- there, it's off. Oh no, the line's crossed into it's mouth; I can feel the teeth! -tick tick tick tick- that's got to weaken the line... "

One of the best things I like about the glass rod is how effortlessly you can reel a bait out of the water, sling it up, around, and back out in one swift motion that has almost no impact to your shoulder/wrist/elbow joints.  The soft/whippyness of the glass rod gives it a "slingshot" effect that lets you launch it and cover a lot of water a lot faster.

I use the 6'10" M/M St. Croix Mojo Glass crankbait rod for squarebills and other shallow-medium cranks. I like it a lot. I'm not sure if what you're talking about it just an updated version of it.

i have the same rod and love it as well.  great for medium cranks.
