Max Dec Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Im new to buzzbait fishing, and was just want some help getting started. Id like to know what colors to use when and where(light conditions exc.). What company is the best for buzzbaits. Heard that cavitron amd war eagle are very good thoughts on which is better. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted December 26, 2015 Super User Posted December 26, 2015 Cavitron 3/8oz Black/Gold blade(or black blade-take your pick. i just prefer gold) White/gold blade Throw them both Quote
5fishlimit Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 White skirt gold blades. For another great presentation remove the skirt and add a small paddle tail swimbait or fluke. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 26, 2015 Global Moderator Posted December 26, 2015 22lb bag, all on a 3/8oz black on black Cavitron. Only buzzbait brand you need. 4 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted December 26, 2015 Super User Posted December 26, 2015 I will throw a popper or a spook first before I will throw a buzzbait. When I do throw a buzzbait I will start off with a white skirt, and a white blade. Quote

Super User scaleface Posted December 26, 2015 Super User Posted December 26, 2015 I prefer the original lunker lure in white , black , yellow or chartreuse . Quote
Super User Sam Posted December 26, 2015 Super User Posted December 26, 2015 Cavitron. You always need a trailer hook. Dark skirt with overcast, cloudy days and early in AM and late in PM. White, white/chartreuse skirt when sun is out and during the day. You can add any "trailer" you want depending on how bulky you want the Cavitron. You can remove the skirt and replace it with the "trailer" of your choice. Balance rod, reel, line test and Cavitron so you can start the retrive just before the Cavitron hits the water. Never, never take your eye off the Cavitron as long as it is in the water. Always, always be ready for an unsuspecting strike. Good luck. Quote
Bruce424 Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Boo yah is pretty good. I caught them on black, chartreuse, silver grey. And try to parallel the bank. Mess with speed of retrieve start slow then speed up. Multiple cast. Quote
Jaw1 Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 boogerman and chatterbuzz are the only buzzbaits i use anymore. They are very loud clacker type buzzers. white and black are the only two colors you need imo. if i had only one color i could pick it would be white. I never use a trailer hook and generally only buy 3/8 ounce baits Quote
Evan K Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 I love fishing buzz baits! My favorite time is early morning (right after sunrise) in the summer. I have found the white skirt/head and silver blade to perform best for me. I always used Booyah buzz baits and have been quite happy. I just got a bunch of cavitron baits and am eager to try them out next spring. Quote
Super User Senko lover Posted December 26, 2015 Super User Posted December 26, 2015 I throw buzzbaits a fair amount in the warmer months. For colors, it's hard to go wrong with chartreuse/white or black. I find buzzbaits to be really effective, especially for big bass; and on top of that they're an absolute blast to catch fish on. 1 Quote
