Spent the lake couple days scouting out Kentucky Lake. Very very productive. Now we’ll see how everything plays out in March.

caught a few Largemouth, White  bass and a 12 inch Hickory shad.

Check out this one weird bass!

Got some Thanksgiving bass today, 16 of them plus a few nice crappie.  Lower numbers, but better size with most of them measuring over 15" and the best five going 14.9 pounds.  All jerkbaits, mostly the vision 110, but also a couple on the staysee 90.  Fishing steep dropping banks and steeper offshore spots.

A surprising bonus was getting my staysee back today, I had hung it about 8 feet underwater on a branch that comes off of a tree sitting in 19' a few days back, but the wind was a steady 15-20 miles an hour and my trolling motor battery was dead.  I tried to get over to it with the outboard, but the line got into the prop so I had to shut off the motor, and while unwrapping the line from the prop my line broke.  Obviously I couldn't find it in that wind, so I gave my only staysee up for lost.  Came back today just fishing, not even looking for the staysee, but happened to see it shining up from the branch.  So I grabbed my pole style lure retriever, put some light chains on it, and tangled the hooks up with them and pulled my own $17 jerkbait up.

Not a bad Thanksgiving all around, caught some good bass, found my jerkbait, and ate some good food at the end to top it all off.

Have you made it on patoka recently? My grandad has been teasing me about a story of when he went 6 for 6 on casts with a crankbait At patoka and had 28 pounds. The smallest was 2lbs. We are planning a trip in March I believe.

I have actually never fished there. I have heard pretty mixed reviews most of which people have a really hard time catching anything. I will probably try it next year.

Yeah I've heard it's easy to skunk but it can also be on fire. I knew earlier in the year you had talked about going there didn't know if you had went at all.

Enjoyed a little action the past two days.  Caught several, most under 15" but one over 3 lb. Was hoping to build confidence with jerkbaits but caught all on ned rig.  Between 2:00 and 3:30 seems to be the bite window on the ponds I fish. I respect you guys who fish larger waters and have to find fish as well as make them bite. I just fish the sunniest bank where the breeze is blowing in.  That degree or two makes all the difference.

Was looking forward to the jerkbait bite as the water there is usually gin clear but as usual get to the lake and it is stained like you wouldn’t believe . Managed a few on traps and broke off a monster on a jig but all in all it was a pretty good day .

I was going to fish a tournament there but things happened at the last minute and I wasn’t able to fish there.

Got out last night since the weather was pretty mild. Water temp was 40-41 and stained. Nothing on a blade, jig, or jerk so I went icefishing from boat :). Ended up with a small LMB, 2 bluegill, and a rock bass. An hour or so before dark I decided to hit another spot for bass and caught 6 or so. 1 was around 14" and the rest were smaller. They were in 2-3 foot beside some old reeds. This will probably be my last trip with the boat unless I try for some panfish yet..

Got out this afternoon with the warm weather. It was too windy (for me) to fish contact baits  that have been producing lately. Had some decent action, though with a small bladebait. Found the fish along side a submerged bar that runs out into a lake I fish.  A month ago it was out of the water and I was walking on it. Fish would strike on the drop phase of a slow, pumping retrieve.  Caught ten or so in a couple of hours.  Nothing over 16" but fun enough.  Long range maps show a cold turn in about ten days so enjoy while you can.

My outboard is currently out of commission (front gear shaft seal went out), but I took advantage of the 60° weather this afternoon, although just with a trolling motor.  Fished for about 1.5 hours, with 11 fish to show for it.  One of those being a 20.5 inch walleye and another a bass weighing a hair over 5.9 pounds, all on the vision 110 fished with 2 twitches and a 1-2 second pause.  Biggest bass since July for me, agonizingly close to 6 pounds but not quite.  Definitely tested my very worn out katsuages and drag settings, luckily nothing bent out.  Steep dropping banks over 10-20 feet of water is where they're at.

Trolling motor battery ran out about 5:50, and with no outboard I had to row all the way back, which was only 3/4 of a mile but against 10 mile an hour wind that's no easy task.  Didn't get back until 6:55, over an hour later.

Looking like the lakes will freeze over in about 3 weeks if the long range forecast holds true, get out while you can.

Pretty sure this afternoon was the finale.  62 degrees before the cold front and a good bite on a #8 Husky Jerk and small blade bait. Caught about 20 between 12 and 17".  It's going to be a long winter.  This season has been memorable for me.

Called my shots today-for the past few days I've been saying that Monday was going to be a great day for larger bass, I was more right than I imagined.  In the two hours I fished, I caught both my 2nd and 3rd biggest ever bass and caught either my biggest or 2nd biggest limit.  Best five weighed 21.7 pounds with not on but two kickers, one weighing 6.5 pounds and the other 6.7 (decimal, not ounces). I didn't even have a partner to help, and would have had a bigger limit if I'd been able to cull a 2.1 and a 2.3.  A heck of a day, and the cool part about it was the 6.5 and 6.7 were on back to back casts-followed on several consecutive casts by some other bass in the 2-4 pound range.  Caught them all on the vision 110 fished pretty quickly on steep dropping banks and points.

The 6.5 pounder was crazy fat, the thing only measured 19.5" but looked like it had swallowed a bolling ball.  If that big girl gets a little more length on her, she'll be an 8-9+ pounder no problem.

21.7 wins money 10/10 times.  Great job bud!  Those visions are fish catchers

Good job, IF. Looks like I was a day too early :P Makes me wonder now if we caught the same fish...? Ate a 110 also about 3 weeks ago out there. Was with a friend on his boat, so had no scale at the time.

I told you that Monday was going to be really good when i talked to you sundayB).  Wind has been key lately with this clear water.

That fish sure has similar proportions, and similar coloration from what I can tell.  You get a length measurement on that bass?  Not sure if that fish would have moved that far (I caught her on the steep dropping shoreline just upriver and on the same side of the lake from statue of liberty), but its definitely possible.  Either way, I want to catch her again in a couple years;)

Sadly, I had to work all day Monday  The fish in the pic was caught just north of gazebo out in the mouth of where the clubhouse cove meets the main lake. It had 3 weeks to move across the cove mouth and around Statue of Liberty. Maybe, maybe not. My fish was shorter also, I'd guess about the same length as yours. That's why it didn't grab my attention immediately after i caught it outside of it's belly. It was only after looking at the pics at one did I realize just how big/out of proportion  that fish was.

There's some advantages to knowing exactly what each other are talking about when no-one else does.  Sorry guys:P

People always look at me and one of my buddies when we are talking deer hunting and we say something like "seen crab claw and that dumb one walking from the y line down towards old faithful, gonna see if I can hunt the ponderosa and shoot super spike."
