I've got to figure out where you guys are finding these pits that you can actually fish without fear of prosecution

Just look around on google earth, pick a couple that look fishy and that don't have any obvious fences, and go check them out.  If you don't see any no trespassing signs, you're probably not going to get prosecuted.  In most cases, the worst that could happen is you get kicked out.

BTW, I'm surprised they weren't eating the jerks there with the wind and clear gravel pit water, I know you love your jerkbaits.

I caught 2 on a vision jr before we figured out that the larger bass were on the bottom

I don't know if I would be willing to try and launch a boat without a ramp though, at least not at the gravel pits I've been to.  We once sunk our van well up past the axles nearly to the top of it's wheels in sand (no shovels with us either, just sticks), on a 100+ degree summer day, on the one day we forgot water, but that's another story.

yikes

I wouldn't even try putting into a pit without 4wd, a good solid bank and, a gradual slope into the water unless there were 12 pounders jumping all around busting baitfish.

What average weight it takes to since a tournament in Indiana or what weight will put you in pretty good contention?

Where at? Our tourney we are having this weekend, it will take 23-24lbs. And that's 3 fish over 18 inches and 3 under 18 inches. (tournament rules)

Geist, Morse, Monroe, and Racoon. 5 fish limit

Never fished at any of those. But I feel like if you had 14-15lbs youd have to be in the money or at least close.

Depends a lot on time of year at all those places. Morse, 12 pounds is solid most of the year. Geist, 12-15 pounds through the summer to win, 18+ in the spring. Monroe, so variable...8-10 pounds to cash, 12-18 to win. Raccoon, some days 9-12 pounds wins. Late fall or early spring could be 12-18 pounds.

I cashed good with a little over five pounds on Monroe last time I went there (big cold front), and also with 2.5 pounds on Morse (50° water with 2-3 inches of visibility, plus a cold front and over a hundred tournament boats)  No tournament experience on the others, but as the other two were exceptionally bad conditions don't necessarily go off of those.  It really depends on the season like team9 said and also the current weather.

The Geist Tuesday night tournament pays out roughly the top 10% of boats.  In the spring that's usually top 7 plus big bass. Like @Team9nine said, on Geist it will take 18#+ in the spring to win.  Usually if you get 15-16# you'll be cashing out.  Big bass is usually between 5 and 7#.  I stop fishing the tourneys in June (i struggle fishing deep) so I cant really say how much it takes to win in summer.

This website tracks all upcoming tournaments in the state.  If you click on one of the tournaments, it will bring up that tournament trail's website.  From there you can then view tournament results from any lake any date.

I remember that day.  I was fun fishing on Geist that Saturday and it was awful for everything except white bass

Sucking describes that day well, fishing hard for eight hours for only two bites was terrible.  And to top it off, there was literally a boat every third or fourth dock, the cold rain had created a line of colder, muddier water that left only the lower 1/5 of the lake fishable which condensed the competitors.  That was my first tournament that had more than 15 boats in it, so it kind of threw me off mentally.

The river was on fire yesterday!  Caught 12 in 2hrs. Broke my PB smallie again.  18 inches and much heavier than the 17 I caught last month.    Really wish I had a scale with me.  Anybody using one of those lip grip scales with tape measure? I think it would be handy for getting pics while I'm out by myself.

That's a fat smallie! I guess I'm going to have to head to the creek tomorrow! I think I've only caught 4 or 5 smallmouth this year, it's been a real bummer!

Got to meet @IndianaFinesse tonight, bought some mushroom head jigs off him, he threw in a shakey head, quality stuff, you guys should definitely look into it. Caught one small smallmouth on his shakey head. Unfortunately tonight was a bit of a bummer, I got informed I wasn't allowed to fish in the quarry I've been fishing all summer. It's unfortunately owned by the university here in town and they don't want anybody fishing in the quarry. I can still fish the creek, it's unfortunately not been very productive this year.

I was fishing the white river and fall creek for close to 8 hours yesterday. I did terrible. I caught a largemouth on a jig and little smallmouth on a fluke. I couldn't get them to bite. What were you throwing?

Caught the bigun with a power bait 4in grub on a 1/16th mushroom jig.  Pulled downstream just fast enough to keep off bottom  Also caught some on a chartreuse zoom fat Albert grub.  It was kind of a random choice.  I ran out of trds last week so I threw a 3in keitech on the jig.  All it caught was dinks so I wanted something with a larger profile that would still work on the tiny jig.  Happened to have the grubs on me and whada ya know, that was the ticket.  I have fished the White River very little but I can tell you it's at least 4 times the size of the river I fish.  You can see in the picture how shallow it is.  Most of the river is 6-8in right now so I'm just looking for the deeper holes, the pools above and below the riffles.  Good luck

I think we are fishing the same creek, just different areas. I noticed last night they were in the faster current in the deep areas, it's down so much the deep holes aren't very deep anymore!

Got out on Lake Tippecanoe on sunday evening.  Fished Deep , fished shallow , fished docks , pads , grass edges , caught zero .... Finesse , power , nothing.  Anybody have any luck in the northern part of the state lately.

@Cole Richards With the weather lately fishing has been tough for sure. On a side note - Brookville just stocked more rainbow trout in the tailwaters for the fall season if there are any fly fishermen on here.

I was out last night and it was tough. The lake had a heavy algae bloom. I caught 2 bass and 1 crappie in 5 hours. All were caught on crankbaits.

Fished the river feeding the reservoir on Sunday.  Couple white bass and a few crappie.  No small or largemouth.
