You might check out this thread about the pelican style boats

I've got one but unfortunately I've only been able to get it on the water twice, once with the wife and son, the other by myself, neither was a pleasant experience. The wife and boy aren't much into relaxing and fishing quietly, the second time I spent more time fighting the boat than actually fishing. One of these days I'm going to get it out and enjoy myself or die trying!

I read a lot of that thread.  It is huge though.  I will keep picking through it.

Thinking about driving down to Patoka this weekend for bass. Can anyone tell me anything about that lake never been there before?

Talked to a tourney angler today. Patoka is producing some nice bags, 15+ from what I hear. Spooks in the morning and dragging big plastics on drop offs near the islands. I'm talking 8"+ worms and lizards. Post spawn has the bigger girls hungry.

I am new to bass fishing  and new to this forum.   I live in northern hamilton county (one county north of indianapolis).

Welcome to the forums fellow Hoosier. Message me if you need help with tackle/techniques.

Welcome from another central IN angler. Unless I'm missing something you're in a bit of a dead zone for such opportunities. Boone's pond has never produced well for me but I haven't been there for years. Southwestern quarter of the state is fertile ground for small craft. Here around Indy I try to make friends with my painting customers and fish their retention lakes. Fishing can be excellent.  I also love to wade creeks. Kayaks seem to be gaining more favor over mini bass boats these days for small waters. I kind of like the idea of sitting up on a swivel seat myself if given the choice.

I have caught nothing over a pound at Boones.  I see big ones but have yet to catch them.

I got a kayak about a month ago and I have three problems with it.  1.  Sitting is too low to be accurate when casting.  2. Standing is doable but not comfortable for me. (I even built outrigger floats to stabilize it) 3.  I can't take my dog.  I am going to continue to use it but I want to try something else.  Just not sure the area has the waters to support the small boat.

I have been eyeing these neighborhood ponds all over Carmel, Noblesville and Westfield.  I'm sure they all have fish but I don't know anyone one lol.

Before pulling the trigger on a pelican u should check out the otter stealth 1200 or 2000 they are supposed to be very stable.  Keep an open mind because it is a duck hunting boat but I think it would have good possibilities for someone looking for a small craft

Gonna float the white river this morning and wet a line, looking for suggestions on what to throw. Thanks.

Best lure I've found has been the Z-Man TRD. AKA Ned Rig. You'll catch smallies, rock bass, big bluegills, and maybe the occasional catfish on it.

Glenn made a video about the Ned on a lake, but it is equally if not more deadly in the rivers/creeks.

Side note, I work at the local Cabela's. Come in and talk to me, also looking for some local fishing partners as I'm not familiar with Geist or Morse.

Also I would avoid Saxony for a while, a fellow drowned there a few days ago.

Oh Yeah, me and Uncle Ned are real close, I'll give it a whirl on the river next time out. I don't do much on the reservoirs mostly the local ponds. I'll look you up at Cabelas , do they know you as oddchase.saw that drowning in the news, never heard how it happened.

What has been working for y'all? I have been sticking em on a chatterbait in ponds the last couple days. Green pumkin seems to be ticket.

Chatterbait (green pumpkin and black/blue) gets annihilated at my work pond. The big girls can't get enough of it. Green pumpkin senko catches all ranges. Dinks were choking the frog today.

I was out on Klinger Lake in Michigan this past weekend. I only had a couple hours. Didn't have much luck. 2 good size Rock Bass slapped at my crankbait and got snagged by the treble hooks. 2 small LMB slammed a double willow spinnerbait in white/chart. That was it for me. Wind cut my day short in my tiny jon boat.

I also had the unpleasant experience of two boats rolling into "my spot" while I was catching fish. Thought it was pretty disrespectful considering there's a whole lake to fish.  Anyone else have that problem?

unfortunately it not just sponsored fisherman, my buddy and I have had that happen on numerous occasions. nothing like working a point not 20 yards off shore and having someone troll over your spot.

Oh I know the feeling it is just worse knowing they are sponsored by a place and that is what they let represent them

I talked the wife into stopping on our way home from Michigan last Sunday, but we decided to detour and hit the Dundee store.
