I got out last Saturday for a couple hours. Nothing unusual, hopefully I'm going to be able to go Saturday morning for a few hours.

Its been slow for me the past couple weeks, I've only been catching 10-15 bass in an average morning of fishing.  Best thing I'm on is an early morning buzzbait/popper bite but it only lasts till about 7:30.  I have been catching some bass offshore, mostly while stroking jigs or fishing 5xds.  I miss a lot of bites on the jig, can't seem to hook more than 20% of the bites.  Lots of catfish (including a couple flatheads) keep eating my cranks and jigs, unfortunately I have yet to hook a flathead that hasn't broken my line yet.

Dude is deadly with a buzzbait.  Made me a believer

Not to mention the 6xd-choking crappie and those jerkbait-eating pumpkinseeds

I plan to go in the morning for maybe 45 before heading home from work. All I grabbed was the dreaded frog rod.

I haven't had a good frog bite all year.

We had a breakdown at work so I wasn't able to go this morning. Maybe I'll try after work tonight.

I've been killing them with my live target sunfish.

I'm glad to hear someone is. I bought two and haven't caught a fish yet on them. I watched a YouTube article the other day about adding some weight to them. Have you tried that?

No, I didn't do anything to them. My first one was out of an mtb box, my daughter lost it the other day, I just bought the 3 1/2" today. I was hooking up with them like crazy, I also have a jawbone one that got hit a lot but I never managed to hook up with any.

Gotta question about river fishing in a kayak. When you are fishing by yourself or with others. Are you fishing up and down where you put in or are you floating down to another landing, ok, maybe 2 questions.

Yeah, that was a slab that choked on your 6xd.  Usually get one or two nice crappie on deep cranks most trips, they don't seem to care about this size of the bait at all!  And I can't seem to keep those pesky pumpkinseed's off of anything I throw, but they definitely showed a preference for your jerk.  At least they're a pretty fish, but they can be a pain in the butt when fishing fragile soft plastics or skirted frogs.

Did you end up going to patoka? If so, how'd you do?

7 blow ups, 2 two pounders landed. Had another hooked but he came off. All on the frog. Maybe this topwater fishing ain't too bad.

I was planning to go last weekend but plans had to change. Going to get down there soon.

The guys that did go didn't do that great. Caught an ok number but no real size.

Got out this morning to try out some new stuff that arrived yesterday. I got a tackle warehouse order and mtb on the same day, it was a good day :D caught several on the Ned rig, caught 2 on my new buzzbait, and had a few blow ups on the live target sunfish. Oh, I caught one on my first (and probably only) megabass jerkbait... it was a daggone bluegill! a bluegill on a $25 jerkbait! Good grief Charlie Brown!

So if any of you are interested, gander mountain in Avon still has a ton of stuff. I picked up a Fenwick HMG that was 20% of, discounts vary, but most were 20%-30%

When fishing by yourself I always advise people to fish up river and then float back down to where you put in (less chance of you getting too tired to get home). When fishing with others, have one person park their car at the take out landing and drive both of you to the put in - float down river until you hit that landing and load up the 'yaks in your buddies vehicle.

Also - went fishing with @BigBassLoveSenkos yesterday. Good day on the water despite high winds and the cold fronts that came through. As his name implies, we caught the majority of fish on senkos and a few on jigs/texas rigs.

If anyone decides to fish with Mr. BigBass just know he will have close to 25 rods across his deck in the morning but only use about 4 throughout the day.
