MBB Nate Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 It doesn't hurt anything. I have seen a noticable gain in distance and easy of pitching and flipping jigs though. 3 Quote
freelancer27 Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 I am looking to use the reel for spinner baits and smaller swimbaits, the ability to cast far is important. The Daiwa SV103 and the Daiwa Zillion SV TW cost the same on TW. The SV TWS is lighter and newer. Can you please help me understand why I should choose the SV103? Thanks! Quote
pawpaw Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 Seeing as both have the same capacity (100 yds - 14lb) I wouldn't consider either if long casting was important to me. You get even less line with 17lb or heavier. Any event (break off, backlash, etc.) that would require removing anything but a small amount of line may not leave you enough line to do much at all. If I was definitely sold on one these 2 reels anyway I guess it would come down to if I wanted the TWS or not. 1 Quote

Casting distance will be a wash. The SV103 palms better imo, but is a heavier reel. Take into account the length and weight of the rod you will be mounting it on. Why you should choose whatever you do should be based on personal preference and which reel is the better tool for the job at hand. Quote
