Ok guys im in the market for a new flipping/pitching rod. Im 6'7" tall and I am looking for a larger rod. Im thinking something 7'10" to 8'. This rod will be used mostly for pitching flooded shallow cover, mostly laydowns and bushes. I was looking at the Veratis 2.0 7'11" rod but was kind of holding out looking for something nicer/different. know  Thanks for the help guys.

I had a 7 MH/F 2.0 and It wasn't sensitive at all which might come in handy for flipping cover. What's your budget cause TW has the Dobyns Extreme series on sale.

I just got an okuma mat daddy for Christmas as a gift, I haven't used it yet so I can't give an opinion on it but it feels great and a lot of people talk good of them, its in your budget and they make a 7' 11" XH so you should give em a look!

Might look at iROD's Genesis II Series "Bubs Punch Rod".  7'11", has a moderate action which I like on mine since it's close combat fishing and the rods action helps cushion the lunges from a fish at close quarters and helps keep them pinned.   If I ever break my current flipping rod, I' m going to go custom with this blank if I can get it since it's hard to find a 7'11" moderate flipping rod and I like a shorter handled butt section then most make.

I have one of the first ones.  It's light, fish more scattered cover(sparse reeds and brush) with jigs opposed to heavy grass with the Quantum Tour "Hackney" rod.  Tried it in the grass, just prefer the moderate action if I'm out punching and can't give them much room to run.

Im also liking the okuma scott martin signature TCS rods im looking at the 7'11" Heavy model. So basically I have it narrowed down to the *** Black or the TCS. Anyone have both of these or have used both of them?

Should've mention this sooner. I have the 6'9 MH Martin APC and the 7'6 H Flipping/Jig rods. They're by far my favorite set ups. I got them for around $100 after doing some searching online. Easily worth $150 or more.

Are you going to pitch lures 20-30 feet or flip lures 10-20 feet?

Flipping doesn't require any line coming off the reel. The longer the rod the better it is.

Pitching uses the reel so a rod can be shorter and have a more moderate tip action.

I'm 5'10" so I have no idea of your height struggle, but I have a Dobyn's 805 punch/flip and an iRod Bub's Punch Rod.

The Dobyns is going to be out of your price category unless you get one used (which is what I did) but the iRod will be there.

I use the Dobyn's for actual punch fishing and it's an absolute horse of a rod. I keep thinking I'm going to get some kind of Mortal Combat finishing move where it's just a head with a spine trailing behind it when I pull a fish out of the pads.

I use the iRod for pitching, submerged grass, football head jigs, etc. It has plenty of power and handles 50lb braid no problem. The tip has way more flex to it as well.

Regardless of height those rods will hold up to any normal human fishing them in a normal method. If you're setting the hook back over your head with your leverage who knows.

I have the XH 711 matt daddy paired with the Okuma Helios and the Okeechobee power handle. It a great set up. It's really well balanced. I was in your shoes not knowing what to get. but for a 109 dollar rod it really is worth every penny and then some. It's super light I feel every bump and has plenty of back bone for yanking them out of cover and onto the boat. But there are plenty of great flipping sticks out there. Just depends in the coin you want to toss. But for 109 dollars on Amazon it's a great deal.

Right Now you can score a deal on a heavy action BPS rod with the trade in and you can get a Carbonlite, Extreme, and Bionic blade but make sure you put them in your hands as some have a power hump which many don't like, I don't mind it as I have smaller reels on them, But I have had a few Extreme Rods for over 10 years that are awesome. One is a heavy flipping stick I use along with a longer Fenwick HMG which will only set you back $100 and it is a great Rod...I like the Extreme for its weight, and the HMG Flipping Stick I like has a softer tip which I prefer for punching....

The BPS rods are good deals for Flipping, light weight is key so the Pro Qualifier carbonlight combo for $99 is a great deal, I would personally buy that and use the reel on a different set up since I would take advantage of the sales on other reels that are lighter..Light Weight Heavy Action rod with a light reel is worth it after a few hours...Med Heavy is often good enough depending on brand, but make sure to hold them first, not just order imo...

I would not go less than 7' for a heavy action rod but that is just me...I like a med heavy shorter rod, for accuracy more than power...Its also hard to flip with a 3/8 and lighter with a large heavy action rod, I have tried many of the rods on the market and all have good things and all have a few things I don't like. I won't spend over $100 on a rod personally, I wait for sales, deals, and for punching and flipping, I rely on line watching more than feel, I buy better quality lighter action rods if that makes sense.I don't care if my frog rod is sensitive as long as it is long and light with backbone....

I will say Okuma is great with Warranties, so are most companies these days, Lews makes some nice combos as well I would buy in a heartbeat.

That Pinnacle Primus reel is a nice one!  RW let me borrow his and I liked that thing a lot!  (I still owe him line for it.)

Rod:  Powell 775 3D max (big boy rod!)
