hawgenvy Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 March is a great month to for bass fishing in Florida. There are thousands of good places to fish. It's a pretty big state, so you probably should narrow down your question to a region or area of Florida to get more answers on this forum. 1 Quote
caseyhayfishing Posted December 24, 2015 Author Posted December 24, 2015 Im working in Jacksonville the first week of march so after that im willing to travel as far as Okeechobee. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted December 24, 2015 Global Moderator Posted December 24, 2015 Then that's where you should end up! If you have time...On the way hit Toho for a few days, Istokpoga and then the Big O Mike Quote
hawgenvy Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 St. John's river system and Harris Chain of lakes are closer to Jacksonville. Though sometimes it's cold in north Fl in March. Quote
caseyhayfishing Posted December 25, 2015 Author Posted December 25, 2015 Thanks for the advice! I mean if it would really be worth it I would go all the way to the Everglades! Quote
MIbassangler30 Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 I fished on Okeechobee the second week of March this year and we absolutely slayed them. Fished out of Clewiston. And the weather was gorgeous. Wearing shorts and a t-shirt. My avatar is from that trip. Quote
atomicfriday Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 I got a spot down the street you can catch bass and snook at the same time. 2 Quote
Gotfishyfingers? Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 I would stick to the central FL area. Harris chain, Kissimmee chain, St. Johns River (crescent lake), Public access rock pit lakes. The spawn will be in full swing and you will probably have a better chance of a 10lber up there then further south, especially the everglades. 1 Quote

Can you help me out with locations of the public rock pit lakes? Quote
gar-tracker Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 If your goal is a double digit, I wouldn't go further south then Toho, in fact I would go to Toho. If you want insane numbers with a few 6, 7, and 8s thrown in Id go to Okeechobee. Depending on water levels If you want even more insane numbers with 5s and 6s Id go to the Everglades 1 Quote

Hopefully, this is the case this year. Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted December 29, 2015 Super User Posted December 29, 2015 Yes in March/April you can catch very large numbers of bass in the Glades,I have had days where I have caught over 100 bass from the shore all on artificials. Most of these bass are under 3 pounds with few over 5 pounds.I would recommend fishing Lake Toho or one of the Winter Haven lakes if your goal is Double Digit Bass. Quote
Rollin Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Crescent lake is not that far from you and loaded with big fish. The bite should be strong that time of year. Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted January 12, 2016 Super User Posted January 12, 2016 I'd go to Rodman for quality. There was a 17 lbder caught there last year Quote
z7master167 Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Goto rodman reservoir, just fished a week there and probably caught around 150 bass, biggest was 8.5, and 8.25 with 4 over 7 and 8 over 6 Quote
bigbassbruce Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Teneroc in Lakeland has about 12public phosphate pits and they have started producing some hogs in March you should be able to catch a double digit also there are a couple more around the area that are public in south Lakeland Quote
