I recently bought some of these thinking they would be good for a bladed jig trailer.  Has anyone used these for that application?  Any other thoughts or suggestions on rigging or the bait in general?

It's not that I can't stand the Devil Spear, because I have caught some fish on it, but I have found options that work a lot better for me. So, I took them out of my tackle bag and don't fish them anymore. I've tried them as a trailer, weightless, texas rigged, etc. I guess I'd steer you elsewhere.

I like them on a good flipping hook!

Good lure for the thick grass mats and into timber.

Sideways on a chatterbait.

Slit the tail and see what happens.

I gave up on them as a stand alone bait but the idea to put them on a bladed jig is why I will buy more, they just don't sell them around here.

I agree with webertime to rig them sideways and they should be a killer.

I was................WAS....a big fan of the Devil spear Jr. (I never liked the large one), especially on a wobbling (biffle type head) football jig. Then I ran out, substituted the small Pit Boss's for them (which I already carry around and use as a flipping bait) and kept on catching fish. So, to keep things simple,  I won't be buying anymore.
