countryboy65 Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 I recently bought some of these thinking they would be good for a bladed jig trailer. Has anyone used these for that application? Any other thoughts or suggestions on rigging or the bait in general? Quote
Super User Senko lover Posted December 24, 2015 Super User Posted December 24, 2015 It's not that I can't stand the Devil Spear, because I have caught some fish on it, but I have found options that work a lot better for me. So, I took them out of my tackle bag and don't fish them anymore. I've tried them as a trailer, weightless, texas rigged, etc. I guess I'd steer you elsewhere. Quote
5fishlimit Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 I like them on a good flipping hook! Good lure for the thick grass mats and into timber. Quote
Super User deep Posted December 24, 2015 Super User Posted December 24, 2015 Punching, and a little on texas and florida rigs. Quote
Super User webertime Posted December 24, 2015 Super User Posted December 24, 2015 Sideways on a chatterbait. Slit the tail and see what happens. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 24, 2015 Global Moderator Posted December 24, 2015 I gave up on them as a stand alone bait but the idea to put them on a bladed jig is why I will buy more, they just don't sell them around here. I agree with webertime to rig them sideways and they should be a killer. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted December 24, 2015 Super User Posted December 24, 2015 I was................WAS....a big fan of the Devil spear Jr. (I never liked the large one), especially on a wobbling (biffle type head) football jig. Then I ran out, substituted the small Pit Boss's for them (which I already carry around and use as a flipping bait) and kept on catching fish. So, to keep things simple, I won't be buying anymore.
