add the proper amount of weight and you can make it do what you want. it is really buoyant though, more so than basswood.

From what I have seen/read, it is similar to balsa. I am gonna try and make a few things from the pieces I purchased at home depot. There are a few people here who make awesome stuff from it.

It's heavier than balsa wood, closer to white cedar imho.   The right amount of ballast and it will sink, I've made a couple of sinkers with that stuff (not on purpose).
