During the Black Friday sale I bought a Lucky Craft Kelly J. Prop Bait. Judging by the reviews, the bait is excellent; however, when I went out to the lake to test it out today, it sank at a very slow rate, but sank nonetheless. I'm using Tuf Line XP Braid along with a small snap swivel, and don't have problems with other topwater baits.

Could this problem be due to the equipment I'm using, or do you think it's a manufacturer defect? I didn't see any water in the bait either, so it wasn't being filled up/sinking due to water entry.

Try it in the sink, if it sinks there, call TW and they will either exchange it for another or do whatever they need to do to make it right.

Well that's um lets say confusing.  It's listed under class as a floater, but in the title says slow sink in the title....WHAT?????? I'm confused now, does it float or sink?  Does luckycraft know if it floats or sinks?  I have one I bought as well and if it sinks well it's not what I wanted either.  I don't need a slow sinking floating topwater.

I haven't fished the bait so I'm not sure from personal experience.   I was always under the impression that it was a sinking bait, that's why I never bought any.   Many online vendors have it listed as sinking also.  Hopefully someone who has actually fished the bait will chime in.

Edit:  I found a picture of a bait in the package, it says "slow sinking."

The profile of the bait leads me to believe that slow sinking is correct.  For a floating bait that thing looks way too tall/narrow...it looks to me like an LV with a prop.

I have this one and it floats. It does roll over on it's side but I have not had it long and dishes it much.

If you want a great prop bait TW has them on sale right now for $4.99, the Yo-Zuri 3DB Prop. I have them and they are AWESOME!!! It has a single plastic prop that has a purple tint, supposed to be UV enhanced but that doesn't matter, the bait moves water and that small plastic prop really throws water. The first time using this my best 5 went 19lbs 7oz and that is in PA where that kind of weight doesn't happen, especially in the middle of July!!!

I have one and had some decent success with it this fall. Mine floated and I didn't notice it to sink at all. I threw it on 20lb. mono, tired directly on.

Update: Emailed TW about the issue and they sent a new one free of charge. Very pleased with their customer service.
