Checked the 'Best Rod' threads and didnt find anything. For those of you who have used them, which rod would you prefer for weightless 5" Senkos? The Helium 3 7' M/XF or the 7'1 MH/XF? It will be paired with a Alphas SV 105SH and 10 or 12lb fluorocarbon. Originally was thinking medium, but wondered if it was too light. Will be fishing open water to moderate cover most of the time.

I have 2 Helium 3s. I think the Medium would be the better choice. Loads and casts better.

I think the M/H would be the better pitching Rod for 1/4-3/8 jigs and creatures.

I really like the lightness and simplicity of the H3s.

i have the 7'1" He3 in MH/XF and it is very stout. for 5-inch senkos, the M is a better fit.

Have the same rod and bought it for what you are looking to use it for. Not a good senko rod. One heck of a 1/4oz tungsten + worm/creature rod though. Quite stout even for a MH. Get the medium 123%.

My favorite by far for the unweighted 5" Senkos is the older KLX 6'9" MHF "Finesse worm, tube and jig" model.  It was rated for baits from 1/8 oz. and it delivers on that rating.  I don't see it, or anything similar, in Kistlers current line-up.  Too bad...

Tight lines,

Just ordered a 6'9 ARGON today in Medium to use for that application.

Gonna put an Abu Morrum on it with 6/8# line  for close work in the bayous.

I have an older LTA, 7ft M F. It's an excellent soft plastics rod in that it has lots of backbone but a softer tip which is helpful in "weighing" the line to feel for life. I don't like this for jigs bc bass spit them too fast, but for soft plastics a softer tip (not a wimpy tip!) is a plus.
