Jake the Cake Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Anybody else tempted to go fishing on Christmas and day after Christmas? I'm a firm believer in the fish calendars and every single one says those are the best days this month. I'm not talking about skipping Christmas activities but I believe there's going to be my minimal tackle backpack and at least 4 rods in my car at all times this week for any chances I get to sneak away without ruining the holiday spirit!!! Lol, just wanted to see who all else can't focus on the holidays with all this good fishing and warm weather going around!!!!! 2 Quote

I'm going with Smallies and Crappie on my local river. Mainly because it's 1/2 a mile away so those are my best chances to fish without being gone too long. 1 Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted December 21, 2015 Super User Posted December 21, 2015 Not on Christmas Day, but I will be fishing the day prior. It's supposed to be 69* here in the Baystate...unheard of! Good luck if you do get out! 1 Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted December 21, 2015 Super User Posted December 21, 2015 Just now, Jigfishn10 said: Be a good day to try the feathered treble...huh? After the results I've had recently in late season cold water conditions; and cold water is a relative term as I've not fished any 70 degree days on Christmas Eve - I'd be fishing two rigs. And two rigs only ~ A 1/2 oz Silver Buddy and a 3/4 oz Silver Buddy. Silver in the sun and Gold when there's clouds. Watch out for over-sized Pike ! A-Jay 1 Quote
MDBowHunter Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 I'm leaving MD Wednesday morning to head to Florida for a week, so heck yea I'm definitely fishing Christmas Day. I'm going to visit my mother and she has a freshwater canal right out back of her house, along with a couple of kayaks. From what I gather the bass spawn Jan. through May so I would think they're eating pretty decent, at least I hope so. 1 Quote
Super User Senko lover Posted December 21, 2015 Super User Posted December 21, 2015 I fished today, and I would totally fish on Christmas day. Or any other day, for that matter 1 Quote

Super User Spankey Posted December 21, 2015 Super User Posted December 21, 2015 Wednesday and Saturday for awhile I'm sure. Too windy to fly fish this past Saturday so I'm Jonesing to get out. Won't be for bass but for trout. Trying to teach myself the fly fishing game. Good luck, happy holiday. Quote
Jake the Cake Posted December 21, 2015 Author Posted December 21, 2015 Glad to hear I'm not the only one that can't resist going out there this week! Just talked my buddy into taking off work Wednesday to explore a local lake that's real high right now. Tons of trees in the water that normally aren't, fishing calendar is right, temperature is nice...............This is lining up pretty well 1 Quote
Insanity Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 I'm also a firm believer in those calendars. And Id go for sure if I hadn't stole my boat battery for my truck. Humm I could borrow the wife's truck battery. 1 Quote

By the way Barnwell Co. and Williston just in cast any one is in the area and need a break from the family. Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 22, 2015 Super User Posted December 22, 2015 My calender says the best time to go fishing is any time you can go fishing! 2 Quote
Retired@176 Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Hoping Santa is good to me so I can try out any new toys on the weekend, no ice on my lake yet so I get out almost everyday! Quote
Super User Scott F Posted December 22, 2015 Super User Posted December 22, 2015 What would make you believe in fishing calendars? Isn't it the same science as horoscopes? 1 Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted December 22, 2015 Super User Posted December 22, 2015 Going to fish on Christmas with my Family . Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 22, 2015 Global Moderator Posted December 22, 2015 Fishing Christmas and New Year's Day use to be a tradition for me but getting married kind of put a damper on that tradition. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted December 22, 2015 Super User Posted December 22, 2015 Not going on Christmas Eve or Christmas day. Too much stuff with the family going on. Other than that I will be on the water. The temps are just too warm to stay home. 1 Quote

Agreed, these temperatures are impossible to resist, especially with all the high waters right now. So many trees and new foliage for everything to feed on. Wednesday and Thursday will be my fishing days. Possibly this entire weekend too, lol. Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted December 22, 2015 Super User Posted December 22, 2015 I will be hitting Lake Okeechobee with a friend of mine Xmas weekend. But no fishing for me on Xmas Eve or Xmas Day. Quote
