hoosierbass07 Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 I saw it Saturday. I really liked it. I'm going to see it again next week! Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted December 21, 2015 Super User Posted December 21, 2015 Saw it Saturday night. It was very very good. As good as the first two in my opinion. I was SHOCKED to see Solo killed. Am definitely looking forward to the next two! Quote

I think that she may have been trained by Luke at the same time he was training Ben Solo/Kylo Ren, and after he lost his marbles Luke sent her off to Jakku to protect her. With Star Wars being a "space opera" they don't need to bring her in as a direct descendant of the Skywalker clan since Kylo is already filling that role. It will be nice to have an outsider come in to help clean up the family mess. 1 Quote

She has to be. This movie was great but give me 4-6 original version. Quote

But then I started to think, Luke had to confront his father to complete his training. Maybe Ben needed to confront Han to start down the dark side. Quote

Once Disney bought LucasFilm they essentially hit a reset button on what is officially part of the Star Wars canon. Much of the source material used for the graphic above includes books and other materials from the "expanded universe". As of now this is what is being considered as "official": http://www.slashfilm.com/new-star-wars-canon-timeline/ 2 Quote

But as of thus far, Disney has loosely followed the expanded universe canon. I expect them to continue doing the same thing with some *spoiler* character's like Boba Fett. Quote
Super User tomustang Posted December 25, 2015 Super User Posted December 25, 2015 JJ did say he wasn't going to use the expanded uverse comics/books Quote

The expanded universe was mostly canon before Disney decided to erase it. They also dropped hints here and there that she will in fact be Solo's daughter like in expanded universe. They simply changed the expanded universe story lines that developed in the chronological 25 years between episodes 6 and 7 so people who didn't keep up with expanded universe could understand the movie. Super User jbsoonerfan Posted December 26, 2015 Super User Posted December 26, 2015 I must say, I'm 36 years old and had never seen any of the star wars movies (that I could remember, maybe when I was young). But my son is 10 and I took him to see this one and I really enjoyed it. Of course I had to ask him questions during the movie and it probably got on his nerves lol. Anyway I need to watch the other 6 so I can get caught up. Quote
Super User Darren. Posted December 26, 2015 Super User Posted December 26, 2015 Han's death caught me by surprise. Though after reading JJ Abrams' thoughts on the matter, I can (sort of, reluctantly) get and understand the why. It was mostly to cement the badness of Ben Solo/Kylo Ren since Darth Vader was the baddest ever, Kylo had to be as bad or worse and seal the deal by killing his father. Great movie, though I'm still processing the loss of Han. I do think Rey is more likely Luke's daughter, or at the very furthest, his niece. Can't wait for next movie.... Quote

The theory that interested me just recently is the "Rey is Obi-Wan's granddaughter". 1 Quote

Read about that, too, though it didn't hold as much weight as either Luke's or Leia's daughter... However, if ObiWan and Duchess Satine were secretly wed.... Interesting theory, to be sure. Quote

Thanks man. I will try that. Christmas was already done for my son, but I will buy him the box set Btw, as a Christmas gift my gf and I remodeled his room. He loved it. Those are Legos he built scattered all over the room. The star wall will have phatheads on it. 3 Quote
