Micropterus salmoides Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 I need replacement hooks for a Chug Bug. The stock hooks just aren't cutting it for me. I've already missed several fish that took the bait under, loaded my rod up, then came free. Any suggestions? Are there any companies that make a quality rear treble with mylar flash or should I get a feather rear treble? Thanks. Quote
Triton21 Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Gamakatsu. Tie your own feather hook with marabou. Quote
Super User T-rig Posted May 13, 2007 Super User Posted May 13, 2007 Owner ST-41. You can buy them also as feather hooks. Quote
bassman00012 Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 i haven't had that problem.....yet, but when I do the replactments will be RED and with Feathers. Quote
switz Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Recently changed alot of my trebles to Gamakatsu. They have been good thus far. Mustad's Triple Grip are suppose to good as well. Quote
Guest avid Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 I use only owner hooks and they do make excellent replacement trebles including dressed. but the stock hooks on the chug bug are fine. Unless they are old and no good they can be sharpened or more likey your casting too far and using mono line. this weakens the hook set considerably. shorten up your cast, by going long you only spook the ones that are closer. Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted May 16, 2007 Super User Posted May 16, 2007 I use VMC barbarians 99% hookup rate ,the other 1% are me getting excited !!!! Quote
