Looking to upgrade my jig rod and want sensitivity and durability for under $200. Mainly a short range flippin/pitchin rod that can last a long time and has great sensitivity for feelin a jig bite. Also reccomendations on action, length and taper is welcomed.

Thanks guys

That or the 704 is what I would go with

I would go with the new Kistler Magnesium 2 in 7'0" heavy mod-fast. $189.95

Normally I would fish a longer rod but since you are talking about short range accuracy, I'm more accurate with a 7 footer.

If you plan on flipping/pitching the longer 7'3" to 7'5" medium/ heavy or heavy fast action jig/worm rods rated for lures 1/4- 1 1/4 oz-line 15-25 lb work good.

there are several light weight sensitive blanks available, durability depends more on how you treat you tackle. High sticking longer light weight rods isn't a good idea for example, they will break!

the Irod is very good at $150 price point and Loomis E6X 7'5" Flip & Pitch 894 is a good rod @ $200 price point.

If you watch the boards, you can find a used Dobyns champions or St Croix Avid/LTB for under 200$. So many options at that price point, but I have had good luck buying used high end rods on this site and another.

I would get a 7' MH St. Croix Avid

X2 this is the same rod I use. Love it, especially in close quarters.

My current favorite is a 7'2" Fenwick AETOS  MH with the extra fast tip.  This is paired with a Chronarch 50 reel.  Light and sensitive, and while it wasn't cheap, it didn't break the bank either.

From my personal experience with iRod's Genesis2 or Air series outperforms Loomis or St Croix!

If you go used you can get a better rod for about 60% of what it would cost new. $200 is a great budget either new or used. The Avid gets very high praises and I wouldn't be afraid to spend my money on one of them.
