Super User ChrisD46 Posted December 17, 2015 Super User Posted December 17, 2015 I have noticed several Pros of late (Timmy Horton for one) give the above creature bait very high marks ... Have you used before and if so , what are your thoughts ? My application would be mainly pitching to cover and dragging / hopping on a T-Rig or Jika Rig in open water. 1 Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted December 17, 2015 Super User Posted December 17, 2015 I believe he is sponsored by BPS so that is probably part of his love for the bait. I am personally not a fan of BPS baits. Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted December 17, 2015 Super User Posted December 17, 2015 I think it is a good value in the "beaver" market. I use both sizes regularly. Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted December 17, 2015 Author Super User Posted December 17, 2015 K_Mac : If the River Bug is fairly soft , has good action and colors are consistant - then I figure they would be worth trying . Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted December 17, 2015 Super User Posted December 17, 2015 Chris they aren't bad for the money. I do like RI Beavers a little better, and if money is on the line I choose them. I would try a couple of bags and see for yourself. Good luck. Quote
Super User bowhunter63 Posted December 17, 2015 Super User Posted December 17, 2015 I use Strike Kings and it works really well.I like it on a swinging jig head. Quote
DCales84 Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 I bought the river bug kit awhile back and they have caught fish on numerous occasions. I've used them as jig trailers, on a swinging football jig, and texas rigged. The kits offer a wide variety of colors for a good price esp. when they are on sale. My suggestion would be to buy the smaller kit or 1-2 bags of a color that works in your area and rig them on a swinging head to start. Not a lot of action from the claws but they will hold up when fishing heavy cover or rocks from my experience. Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted December 18, 2015 Author Super User Posted December 18, 2015 DCales84 : Good suggestions - I forgot about the swinging football head technique with a beaver bait which I believe the River Bug would be well suited for . While the River Bug could make for a beefy jig trailer , I tend to use a supply of Zoom Super Chunks I have on hand however I may say what the heck and try the River Bug on a football jig to mix it up some . Super User WIGuide Posted December 18, 2015 Super User Posted December 18, 2015 I have used them before, but wasn't impressed with their lack of action. I did catch a few fish on them though, so they may not be the worst bait ever. I just have more confidence in other baits. Quote

aceman387 Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 I've had great success using the smaller size as a jig trailer on bitsy bug jigs. Quote
