Super User retiredbosn Posted December 15, 2015 Super User Posted December 15, 2015 I gave up cigarettes about 2 months ago and started smoking a pipe. I do enjoy pipes something relaxing about them. The doctor said they're bad but not nearly as toxic as cigarettes. I find I am smoking less additionally. 15 dollars of tobacco lasts me almost a month. Hopefully within the next couple of months I'll be off of all tobacco products. 5 Quote

PourMyOwn Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Good luck on your journey to being tobacco free. I've been there, and will thankfully never smoke again. Hope it goes well for you. Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted December 15, 2015 Super User Posted December 15, 2015 I began smoking a pipe this year, also. Never smoked cigs, but have smoked cigars for ten years. Observation: Cigars are FAR easier to smoke while fishing than pipes are. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted December 15, 2015 Super User Posted December 15, 2015 I enjoy a pipe every now and then as well. Very relaxing. Quote

Super User Raul Posted December 15, 2015 Super User Posted December 15, 2015 Smoking, no matter if the doctor says is less harmful, is not a healthy habit. I was a smoker since 17 yo until 49 yo and to tell you the truth, I liked to smoke, I like the smell of tobacco ( even though you stink like a friggin´ ashtray ) and all those rituals associated to smoking; I finally gave up on smoking a couple of years ago, when you have the example right on your face of the misery smoking causes you have to be really hard headed not to understand. My mother smoked, she has lung emphysema and heart congestive insufficiency, she has to be on oxygen 24/7 and can´t go anywhere without having to carry a portable oxygen can. 1 Quote

PourMyOwn Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Y'all probably think its stupid for those of you who know what it is, but I "vape"... I vape 0 nicotine juices though. I think vaping is ok, because it doesn't affect me. As I said, I smoked for a solid 15 years, and I can honestly say that the smell is revolting to me now. (I've heard it's worse to former smokers than to non-smokers, btw.) I hate to think that I smelled like that all those years. I really don't care what people do to themselves, but when I stink because of someone else's smoke it bothers me. I had a couple in the office this week that obviously chained a few down before they came in...I could smell it hours later. I wish that a few of my loved ones would switch over to vaping. A lot of my friends do it, and it's comical to watch. Quote

quanjig Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Smoked for about 25 years, stopped for about 7 years and then picked up black and milds while I fished. Worst thing ever!! Started to really smoke them, we're talking all the way to the plastic! Then I started smoking them every day and boy was I starting to feel it. I went thru the ecig progression and am very happily combustion free! I am at 6mg and for me, it's been an easy transition. I'm not a "clouds bro" vapor, it's a "safer to me" alternative to tobacco products and I don't smell like "asstray" . I know smoking will kill me, with everything I have read and researched, vaping is far less harmful!! I will quit, just something about starting up again and trying to quit again was excruciatingly difficult. Quote
