Best Lipless Crankbait

Alright so I've tried some Livingston's and those didn't quite work for me. Now, some of you may say it isn't the lure and that it's me. Well I've switched lure brands before but kept the same type of lure and fishing seems to pick up so... I guess I am asking for your favorite brand. Some things to take into mind are color, durability, price, and of course presentation. Anything helps! Tight lines everyone!

Mine are the Xcaliburs. When I was buying them they were 4 bucks a pop. Good finish, good hardware, ran nice and straight.

Not every brand / model lipless bait has the same action, rattle sound & fall rate.

 

Each may have it's time & place where it might shine over another.

 

Day in & day out I have quite a bit of confidence in a 1/2 oz SK Red Eye Shad - both rattle & Silent.

 

The 6th Sense bait is good as is a couple of the Lucky Craft models and the Xcaliber One Knock is a solid producer.

 

Of course the industry standard will forever be the original Bill Lewis Rat-L-Trap.

 

And though I haven't tried it yet, the Duo Realis G-Fix Vibration Tungsten Lipless Crankbait looks like it has potential.

I like the SK Red Eye Shads, and the old Xcaliber's............I am currently OUT of Xcaliber's thanks to the pike, and I don't love them enough to pay what people are asking for them now that they are discontinued. I'll keep the SK's, and probably pick up a few of the "new" Booyah branded baits which are supposed to.............."supposed to" be the same as the old Xcaliber baits. A third bait that flies under the radar a little but was very effective for me was the Storm Rockin' Shad.

The Xcaliber baits have been my favorite for a long time now. The RES are very good baits too.

For me it's the 1/2 oz Red Eye Shad, especially in Gold/Black Back!

SK redeye and CC Super Spot. I personally find the super spot works best for me on the fall, and redeye works good for me searching and cranking.

1/2oz for both. Whites and silver's are best in my area.

I'm in the Bill Lewis Rat-l-trap camp, but the SPRO Aruku shad is slowly finding it's way into the regular rotation.

I don't know what the best is, but what I've had the most success with have been Spro Aruku Shads followed by Yo Zuri rattlin vibes. Honestly it isn't even close and I throw lipless cranks on every outting.

I have a few Xcalibur/Booyah one-knockers and like them, but my greatest success has come on a YoZuri 3db Vibe.

I tend to reach for the cotton Cordell super spot and the Bill Lewis rat l trap the most. I am going to pick up some red eye shads over the winter to try next year

They are a decent when the fish are responding favorably to a very loud & / or fast sinking bait.

 

If a slow fall & / or somewhat subdued or even silent lipless bait is called for, I'd reach for something else.

My favorite currently as well. Red Eye Shads have caught me plenty as well, I'll throw a Super Spot, Rat L Trap, or rattling rap (rapala) when I need one to run shallower. Ive been wanting to pick up a *** Filet because they are extremely light for their size; I'm guessing they run very very shallow.

Best Lipless crank for me is probably Strike King Red Eye Shad, the fall on these baits is ridiculous, they stay upright and shudder slowly while sinking. The fall is sometimes the key to getting bites on lipless cranks. BUT, I do love the Rat-L-Traps, their "super natural" line of colors are amazing, check out some of the sunfish style patterns they have. Sunrise perch and fathead minnow are winners.

No favorite, I throw about 6 different ones. Depends on what the fish want. the differences I find important are loudness, fall rate, attitude, and size. Also some are better for burning, others for ripping, and others for yoyoing. Be the vibe.

I'm really partial to the SK Red Eye Shads.  I also have a couple of Cordell Spots that are almost beat beyond recognition.......and they still haul 'em in.
