Powell has been making a lot of changes to their lineup of rods lately. The Inferno now retails at $100-$110 and the Max 3D now retails at $160. They also are clearing out the TiMax rods, which are getting really hard to find. All of this leads me to believe they're coming out with a new series in the near future, somewhere around $200 or above. It would most likely be coming out around the Classic or even possibly ICAST, if my predictions are correct. If anyone else would like to add something I'd appreciate it, but this is just a heads up for my fellow Powell fans.

You are probably correct. The TI series was probably a bit much at $350ish and I don't think they sold well. Their Endurance rods were widely popular and performed well in the sub $200 price point. I still have one that I use and it is a very good rod. Perhaps an updated Endurance series between $225-250. Sort of a competitor in the market with the Dobyns Champion, Thrirteen Envious, MB Levante, etc. Just a guess since it seems like people are still looking for the discontinued Endurance rods and it seems like brining them back with and updated look and components would be a wise move.

I don't know much about Powell corporate strategy, but I do know that my new Max 3D 806 CF Punch/Flip Mag Heavy (8 foot) stick is freaking awesome. It was and is $159.99.

I think an Endurance Gen 2 would sell like crazy. I don't know what they have in mind but that is definitely a possibility.

I have two Powell Endurance rods up for sale in the Flea Market.  It is an old post so you will have to search for it.

It is just JMO but I think Powell made a huge mistake when they discontinued the Endurance line--a great rod at a very good price range as far as I am concerned

According to Keith the owner of Powell, the max 3d is a slightly better blank than the endurance. Then they created one series that offered all the powers, lengths, and actions of the previous two series. I have no doubt that it's a fine rod but I'm not much on the color scheme. I enjoyed the look of the endurance. It was also a step up from the original max series. I still have 1 endurance 723 that I'll probably never sell.

That would be a nice segment for Powell, in my opinion.  Is there any other evidence you have for this statement, or is this a prophecy from the rod god?

I bought a number of Powell Maxes in 2006 - 2008 and they were good solid rods.  I also bought a Powell TiMax 734 HCF in the first 6 months after it came out.  It compared very well in sensitivity and use to the G.Loomis Mag Bass MBR 844C GLX, of which I have three.  That model of Mag Bass rod retails for $390 so, with respect to quality, I don't think the rod was overpriced.  However, since Powell has tended to serve the mid-range price segment for rods over the last few years I think the typical Powell customer perceived the rod as overpriced.  I don't think they did a good job of marketing this rod to those who would be willing to pay for it.

I'm certain of some new Powells coming out. They just put the Inferno and Max 3D rods on clearance for $74 and $99 on TW. I'll be taking advantage of those, but I'm super excited to see what they have in store for us.

It seems strange to me that they would already be dc'ing the Powell max 3D as they are a fairly recent addition.

I don't know if they're discontinuing the whole line or just certain models, but they definitely have some new things coming.
