Super User everythingthatswims Posted December 17, 2015 Super User Posted December 17, 2015 I caught this wild brook trout that had to go at least 20 miles downriver during massive flood. It ate a 4" texas rigged senko. Same week I caught a stocked trout in that river, he only had to travel 10 miles downriver though. The river reaches 80 degrees during summer. 1 Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted February 9, 2016 Super User Posted February 9, 2016 I remembered my wife asking me what I wanted for father's day one year.I told her a new baitcaster r&r.She didn't say anything, which is her nice way of saying NO.So out of the blue she decides to take the kids fishing at the pond down the road. She got a bite and when she reeled in there was a baitcaster r&r on the end of her line!Don't tell me God doesn't provide!! 2 Quote
quanjig Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Senko fishing, set the hook on a a small keeper and it breaks off. I sit down, tie on another set up, make a cast right back to the same spot, get a bite, set the hook! Get the fish in the boat, same fish I broke off on still had my hook and senko! Buddy and I fishing a tournament, I'm fighting a fish, he reels in his bait and sets his combo down with the bait a few inches in the water. Nets my fish and as we are weighing and culling, his rod goes in the drink! 23 fow. We scratch our heads for a second and grab baits to drag for his combo. After a few minutes, he snags his line and brings it up. A little. Fish had grabbed his bait and pulled the whole thing over! I guess during the time we were catching fish on that spot, a follower was hanging out under the boat, saw his little creature bait just under the surface next to the boat and thought "here is an easy meal" and took off running! We laughed about that all day!! Quote
Super User scaleface Posted February 9, 2016 Super User Posted February 9, 2016 A friend laid his rod down and helped me net a fish . He went back and his combo was missing . We dont know what happened to it .We guessed the lure was hanging in the water and a bass took it . 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 10, 2016 Global Moderator Posted February 10, 2016 Night fishing one time when my buddy caught a little spot on a crankbait. Once in the boat we realized, it was never hooked, not by him anyways. His crankbait hook had actually gone through the loop of the leader of one of those cheap sneeled hooks that the fish had swallowed and either broke off or the person who caught it just cut their line. It was lucky for Jon and for the fish as the hook was easy to get out and it was released minus it's throat obstruction. The picture isn't any good but you can get the idea of what's going on. 2 Quote
Catch 22 Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Twice with in a half hour smallies about 13/14" actually jumped into my canoe. The river was high and very muddy and I was throwing a spinnerbait with a hugh Colorado blade. I guess the thumping indicated that something was coming after them. The kids and I got a big laugh . I have seen many of them jump at night to "escape" spinnerbaits. Quote
BooyahMan Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Not Bass related but my girlfriend and I were fishing for Pink Salmon last year in one of the local rivers. I foul hooked a fish on the top fin with a spinner and it snapped me off. Half an hour later my girlfriend hooks a fish and says it's foul-hooked. As she was landing it we both saw a spinner (MY spinner) on the fish's top fin and her hook hooked on the spinner. Pretty unbelievable considering hundreds of fish were moving past us in that half hour period. 1 Quote
Super User everythingthatswims Posted February 10, 2016 Super User Posted February 10, 2016 I once caught a big green sunfish, released him, and he swam out about 3' to rest in the current. I cast to him again and WHAM he hit the bait again. I cracked up and tossed him back after a photo, this time he swam back to the stump he came from. Next cast WHAM, low and behold it was the same green sunfish, He had two "black spot" parasites on his gillplate and the photos matched so I know it was the same fish. Those guys are crazy. A quote from a guy I fish with is "I've actually caught more green sunfish on musky lures than muskies on musky lures" Quote
Super User geo g Posted February 12, 2016 Super User Posted February 12, 2016 I was fishing the L67 canal in the heart of the everglades in the three pines area. I was at one of the cuts and fishing with a Bill Dance diving crankbait. I hooked into a big fish and after a short fight the line broke and the fish went airborne several times trying to shake the hook stuck in its face. An hour later and a mile further down the canal there was a rattle from a group of pads along the bank. To my surprise my crankbait was soundly hooked to a pad along the surface and the bass was still attached. It was still shaking the bait and the attached pad trying to rid itself of both. I trolled over and recovered both. That was like hitting the Lotto! 1 Quote
