Anyone else know that guy? Instead of having a place for each and every lure, spool, worm bag, etc. they just toss it all in the same place. Or their rods are all just thrown into the back of their pickup for next week's outing. I don't mean people that leave fishing stuff in their truck beds neatly and/or covered, but the ones that have so much crap on top of them and around then it's unreal. I fish with a guy that when we go fishing he asked me to get him a scissor from his bag and I pulled out a bean burrito wrapper. He said it must have flew into his bag from his truck bed one day lol

You know what the worst part about "that guy" is?  He can throw his rod/reel in the truck, leave it in an ice storm get three inches of ice on it, drop it in the dirt leave it for a week, and have nothing break or get ruined.  Those are real instances of what my brother has done, he crosses the line of unorganized to abuse.  If I left my rods outside or dropped them as much as he does, my reels would be locked up and half my rods would be snapped in half.

The reason it's never ruined or broken may be because they don't expect much out of the gear in the first place. I'd notice immediately if I had a guide insert pop out or my reel was grinding, but careless folks probably won't.

My boats pretty squared away until you open the glove box in the other console... definitely wouldn't go feeling around in there with my hand

I used to be that guy. I'ts a hard habit to break. However, storing my boat away from the house and needing to unload/reload all of my valuables every trip has taught me the benefits of keeping up with organization.

I feel like of I am organized I can make the most out of my time on the water rather than fumbling around looking for stuff.

My squarebill box would probably make any super organized guys break out in a cold, nervous sweat. It's a deep 3700 size box, with somewhere around 75 baits, and only 3 dividers in the whole box. My jig boxes aren't much better. Loosely organized into similar colors, but head styles and sizes are all mixed up. I would have to carry way too many boxes to give everything it's own separate spot, it would never fit in my boat, (it barely does as is).

One may start the day with his baits in the order and place he wants them.

Within two hours all things are moved and mixed together.

We call it bass fishing.

My tackle is the same way. The thing is, I know exactly where everything is.

Just because of how the 3601 boxes are laid out I've had to have a couple boxes with no dividers (only the 3 long-ways ones that are molded in), but I've never stacked baits several deep. My squarebill box has no dividers between the baits but at least there are no baits under baits, lol. :)

I have most of my stuff organized however I do keep a large box in my boat that I use for tossing either that days specific tackle or lures that I change out during the day into. I don't like to throw a lure back in the original storage box when I take it off I usually keep it in this day box incase I want to quickly switch back to it or just to let it dry out. Looking at the box after I'm off the water can be a learning experience as well because I can see all the lures I tried that either worked or didn't work and make a mental note of what to try next time out. As far as organization this box usually ends up a mess of senko bags and loose hard baits. I think its organized chaos though because I'm going to grab from my organized tackle and put into this box what I think my gameplan is for the day and based off how empty or full it gets represents if I was successful or not in my planning. If I wasn't successful in planning it may represent my efforts to adapt on the water, both of which are valuable at becoming a better angler and being organized at least from a mental standpoint.

My tackle boxes are organized. Anyone who isn't organized should try night fishing. Then watch how fast they will change there bad habits when they spend half the night looking for stuff.

I'm a neat freak. I wasn't till I started bass fishing. I always fished for trout, I was that fishing six weeks a year guy in the springtime. Not much in tackle.

Mainly rusted stuff. I learned to keep my tackle box closed in the rain. And after each trip leave the tackle box open in so the water will dry out. No more rust and the baits look new after decades.

This is pretty much me as well. I've organized my boat the night before a tournament and by the end of the tourney it needs to be done again.

My system is organized disorganization..............I know where everything is, even when I don't know where it is.

It all has a home, whether or not it stays or ends up there throughout the day is another story!

GENERALLY speaking, I have everything pretty well organized before a trip.  If, during the day, I think I'm going to use something again, I'll place it in a corner of the deck for quick/ready access.  Otherwise I may just plunk it into the bottom of the box until after the trip when I have more time to reorganize things.  I don't get hung up on trying to organize things WHILE I'm fishing.  My fishing time is too valuable for that.

A friend of mine has the philosophy that organizing means placing everything in matching walmart bags.  He makes me a little crazy.

This fits me perfectly! You can tell what kind of day I am having by what is on deck. If only a few things are out it is going well, but if it looks like a TW delivery truck just dumped everything it had on my deck..... I might not be the guy to beat that day.
