bholtzinger14 Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 This is a new reel to me. I normally fill it to about an 1/8" from the top, but if I go any higher it seems like it will be going at a downward angle to the eye (or whatever its called). 1 Quote
Big C Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 You could, I like mine with a tad more than that, but if it was mine I could live with it. Quote
bholtzinger14 Posted December 13, 2015 Author Posted December 13, 2015 I still have the line attached to the spool. I can add more. Quote
desmobob Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Fill it up to the bottom of the bevel on the spool (which also happens to be about 1/8" from the top of the spool). Tight lines, Bob 1 Quote

bholtzinger14 Posted December 13, 2015 Author Posted December 13, 2015 Thanks guys. That's what I thought. Quote
poisonokie Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 yeah, if it was me, I'd fill it to that beveled edge. 1 Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted December 13, 2015 Super User Posted December 13, 2015 I always fill to the bevel. Used the last of a filler spool of 12# Siege on my Curado 201E7. Ran out of line about an eight of an inch or more from the bevel. Since many manuals suggest filling 1/16-1/8 below I left it that way. Didn't seem to hurt casting any. Was getting better than average distance. Decided I will take it on my next visit to Florida so I pulled a little line off to ensure I wouldn't cast into the splice knot and finished filling with 55# Samurai. Casts even further now. All this to say "fill it to the bevel". 1 Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted December 13, 2015 Super User Posted December 13, 2015 I add some more. I fill to about 2mm from the bevel. Quote
Puggz Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 As everyone said here, yes you can and in most cases you should.... But for certain applications what you have will work fine. If its mostly used for short distance casting/pitchin/flippin and jiggin' etc. you're fine with the way it is. Next time you re-spool, then fill er up like recommended. Quote
bholtzinger14 Posted December 13, 2015 Author Posted December 13, 2015 I filled it up. Thanks guys. 1 Quote
