rchiuz Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Hi all, I don't have a boat so I was wondering are there places to fish the bank at lake okeechobee? Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks in advance! Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted December 12, 2015 Super User Posted December 12, 2015 I have seen people bank fish from Slims fish camp in Belle Glade. They have docks to fish from. On the South side of the Rim ditch canal I also saw people bank fishing. I may be wrong, but I don't think you actually fish Lake O by bank, because you have the rim ditch canal around the lakes perimeter. However, during low water situations the rim ditch I have heard produces some nice fish. Good luck to you. Quote
gar-tracker Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 May be the single hardest lake to bank fish, unless you are live bait fishing for specks. Theres a pier at the north end of the lake in the city of Okeechobee. Several areas down by lake port right were fish eating creek goes under 78. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted December 14, 2015 Global Moderator Posted December 14, 2015 Gar-Track and Lou are right you really can't fish in the Lake proper, but You can try the pier on the back side of Eagle Bay off RT 78, Okeetanee Park, along the rip rap seawall on the rim ditch near the Moore Haven lock, or inside of Taylor Creek but you'll have to ask a home owner first. You can also fish the bank of the river about 1/2 mile before it opens to the lake just past the Scott Driver ramps. Most any acesss to the Lake waters itself are inaccessible unless you have a boat. Super User geo g Posted December 17, 2015 Super User Posted December 17, 2015 There are lots of spots at the parks and ramp areas all along the perimeter of the lake. You will not hit the main lake but you will hit the rim canal and some minor water ways that feed into the lake. Wear your snake boots, always good to be prepared. Quote
dr topwater Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Hi All. I am new to BR and am enjoying the posts. I am from New jersey and fish alot of the lakes up North. I will be in Delray Beach FL the last week of February and wanted to fish okeechobee or a lake near Delray (Saw a lake called IDA Lake near me).. I would preferable like to fish with someone on their boat. If anyone with a boat wants to go out for a day with a Jersey guy I would much appreciate it, I would pick up the entire cost of the day, Gas, food etc etc.. Please send me a message or reply as I really want to fish the Big O or any lake when I'm down there. Thanks guys !! 1 Quote
SFL BassHunter Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 I've considered that rim canal a few times, but its a bit of a drive for me just to go fish a canal. I can do that down here in Miami lol. But I would imagine that rim canal can produce at certain points. Quote
