Reid Carter Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 I've never used swim jigs but I hear they flat out work. I'm looking at a bluegill Strike King swim jig but not sure what the best trailer would be. What works for you guys? Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted December 12, 2015 Super User Posted December 12, 2015 Try a Reaction Innovations Little Dipper. Both the Dirty Sanchez & Watermelon Green Pumpkin colors have worked well for me with that Bluegill pattern. A-Jay Quote
Super User deep Posted December 12, 2015 Super User Posted December 12, 2015 what weight swim jig? Quote
ABW Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Rage menace, a simple grub, boot tail swimbait like a keitech swing impact fat Quote
kcdinkerz Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 I second the keitech fats they aren't as durable as other boot tails but man they catch fish on a slow retrieve or falling motion Quote
Super User Senko lover Posted December 12, 2015 Super User Posted December 12, 2015 Hard to beat a rage craw. Quote
Super User bowhunter63 Posted December 12, 2015 Super User Posted December 12, 2015 Rage Menace or Rage craw.KVD caffine shad works really good also. The thump of tail gives the jig a crankbait wobble and skirt flare. 2 Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted December 12, 2015 Super User Posted December 12, 2015 Im not telling my bait of choice as its not widely talked about. But you cant go wrong with boottail. It can be used in ALL conditions. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted December 12, 2015 Super User Posted December 12, 2015 Reaction innovations little dipper in "sungill" Rage craw in amber Rage menace in green pumpkin purple gold Quote
wytstang Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 MegaStrike fat shad or BizzBaits crawdads are my go to. A single tail grub (MegaStrike again) as a rotating trailer for me. Quote
Damn Yankee Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Yum craw chunk 2.75 in.good action. Quote
mbtharp1 Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 As far as paddle tails go I'd have to go with the gambler little EZ. Its the perfect size, and it's made of some tough plastic. It still has good action due to the thinned out part in the middle of the body. If you put a little bead of super glue on the jighead before you rig it, it'll last you for a long time. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted December 12, 2015 Super User Posted December 12, 2015 Plain old 4" curly tailed grub works for me. I have used various other trailers, and the grub out catches them all. 1 Quote
Super User HoosierHawgs Posted December 13, 2015 Super User Posted December 13, 2015 BBB Cane Thumper in white. Or sexy shad. Quote

Good color options, very durable, garlic scented, cheap, and as good of an action as any boottail. The swing impact tail has more action than the ez at only the slowest of slow retrieves....didnt stop a 2 lb bass in 40 degree water from swipping at it last weekend. Quote

I've had good luck with them in cold water too. Didn't mean to let the cat out of the bag lol. Quote
Super User Gundog Posted December 13, 2015 Super User Posted December 13, 2015 Just last week I bought a couple Lake Fork Boot Tail Live Magic Shads in watermelon red/pearl. Can't wait to give it a try. Quote
