Was just wondering if anyone has any thoughts about PowerPro fishing line.

I like the Super 8 Slick. Pretty nice stuff. Try it you might like it. Soft and suple, easy to manage. I like 50 lb the most for baitcasters.

For even more info, do a forum search on PowerPro.

Very popular line, heavily discussed here.

That said, I love it and use it on all of my reels, both

spinning and casting.

Spinning gets 10lb (regular PP) or 15lb (SS8 PP).

Casting gets 20lb regular.

And I tie on a leader for everything.

Great line, highly recommended.

Love PowerPro. Have it on all my spinning. Full disclosure ... I tried Smackdown by Seaguar last year and loved it. Can't go wrong with either IMO.

It's inexpensive and easy to find at Walmart.

I run #15 on spinning and #30 on casting.

There are other braids that are quieter but the price goes up. I've used pp for a long time and it's worked great. No complaints from me.

I have 30 pound pp on both of my baitcasters and have 0 complaints.

Thanks for all the reply's, another question for you guys. Why the higher pounds test? Why not just stay at 10 or 12 pound test?? I have baitcasters by the way that say 10 to 17 pound test.

Braid lb test is different than mono due it's thinner diameter. #10 braid is equal to #2 mono when comparing diameter. Stick with #30 and you'll be fine.

Lighter pound braid is so thin it will dig in itself and make a real mess of things.  I like 30-50lb. braid, which is equivelent to 8-12lb. mono.

I see this repeated all the time. I use 20 pound braid on my baitcasters and can't recall it ever happening to me. Of course I've had backlashes, but the Suffix 832 I've been using for quite a while has never done it.

Power Pro is the only braid I use.

Tried a few others but allways seem to come back to it.

I have plain old Power Pro on everything but my cranking, drop shot and topwater rods.  I spool 30# or 40# over a bit of cheap mono backing and add a 6' leader of Seaguar AbrazX.  I like this set up a lot and can't find any reasons to change, so far.  I use it some spinning outfits, too.

For you guys that use braid and a leader do you cast the junction knot through your guides with no problems?

Yes.  I have the "macro" guides on most of my rods; slightly larger than micros, but still pretty small.  The FG knot goes through effortlessly, the Alberto goes through pretty well.

I'm using Power Pro 15/4 yellow/fluoro leader on my spinning rod and have no issues.

I use the 10# Super 8 Slick with 7# leader on my spinning rod. No problem with the knot going through the guides. It is like it has no knot.
