Looking into a rod to handle primarily 1/4oz t rigs to pair with my Curado I. Im looking at 7 foot MH fast or extra fast, seems to be the best fit for this application.

As of now im planning on getting a thirteen n-y 7'1 mh xf for this application. Ive read they fish heavier then their rating. If youve used this rod could u let my know ur thoughts?

Feel free to post what you use for this application as well if you have no experience with that particular rod.

Thanks!

I am no help on that particular rod.  I do fish a MHXF for all my T-Rig from 1/16-3/8oz bullet weights as well as 1/4-3/8oz bottom contact jigs.

Other than super heavy pads/grass I find it works great.

Don't have that rod but do fish a ML **** and it is noticeably more powerful than it's rating.

For 1/4oz. T-rigs, I will recommend the 6'10" MH Falcon Cara Finesse jig rod. Awesome rod!

I do not necessarily think they fish heavier than they are rated, but I would recommend maybe going with a medium. The rod I had was a Medium and it was great for what you were trying to use it for.

The 7' 3" does not balance as well with a Calcutta

I prefer 6'10" rods, however Shimano doesn't currently list a 6'10" MH Xfast Crucial.

The rod you selected should be fine.  I don't have personal experience with that manufacturer, but they seem to consistently get high praise so I'm sure it will work out well for you.  You've got the essential part down - The 7 foot-ish length and MH/F.  After that it's just a matter of price point and preference.

For 1/4 and 3/8 Texas rigs I'm currently using the Megabass XX EMTF, which is a 7'5" MH.  I've also used the 7' MH/F models of St Croix's Legend Elite and Legend Tournament series for many years...and If I'm fishing in tight areas, like around docks, I'll default back to one of these over the longer EMTF.

Which is why I'm glad I have 2 ;)

The 6'10" jig/worm rods I use fit my boat deck perfectly, my fishing style, balance with my reels and that's why I have them made that length. Only my swimbait rods are longer, they stay in the rod locker unless I am using them.

You said your Crucials have a foregrip....Calcutta 100's.....perfect!

On the more ridiculous end of the spectrum, I throw light Texas rigs on an NRX 853c.

The MH of the brand you have in mind is also suitable.

I use a 6' 10" MH/F Ethos and a 7' MH/XF LTB. The LTB is obviously more sensitive, but the Ethos does great for a rod I paid $40 for.

I fished quarter ounce jig worms quite a bit this year.    Bait of choice was a quarter ounce Brewer Spider Slider Pro head and a 5" BPS Paddle tail sticko.   The rod that worked best for this was an older Falcon Eakins Jig Special.  It is 6'10", rated as MH, IMO it is on the medium side of medium/heavy.   A Chronarch 50 and 10 lb Abrazx finished out the package.

If you want to stay with an off the rack, mass produced rod, the best rod I have ever had for light t-rigged plastics was my 7' M power, fast action St Croix LTB. Very versatile rod, and more powerful than the medium rating suggests.

You might look into the 6'10" med/xf Tatula. I don't have that particular model, but I have 5 others and they all shine for their intended use, so I doubt that model would be any different. If I used xf rods, I'd get one myself for 1/4 oz t rigs, jika rigs, and jigs. Might do it anyway, hell.

I just picked up a Loomis MBR 843C GLX.

I'm not too crazy about the soft, to me anyway, action for a MH/F rod.

Haven't used it yet but gonna give it shot anyway.

Thinking of pairing it with an older Chronarch 100 SF spooled with 20# braid.

From a different price point, I fish that with a 7' m/f veritas. It has much more backbone than a medium, but still enough tip to cast the 1/4oz with authority.

I love it.

I use a Falcon MH 7' Lowrider for that application. By far the most sensitive rod I own. I bought it for $50 from a coworker who was getting out of bass fishing and into custom motorcycles. It's really a rod for heavy cranks, but it's hard to imagine how it could be better for T rigs. You can feel a fish fart form a neighboring county with it.

I like the Loomis ratings but I do understand what you are saying. Their MH is like others M. I am considering buying a 6'10" Shimano Expride MH and it's lure rating is basically the same as the H powered Loomis MBR844.

I prefer shorter rods. I have a Lowrider 6'6"  Falcon MH spooled with 16# Sunline FC Sniper. I think MH is the way to go for wormin'.
