Gamec0cks5 Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Well I have a Paasche Airbrush I got from my Dad. I am possibly getting some Createx and Devcon(I think) Clearcoat. I am getting some unpainted crankbaits from predatorbassbaits.com. So I have: Airbrush Createx Paint Crankbaits 3D eyes Jig Holder That I used for tying flys jigs etc... Do I use just blue painters tape to mask off my colors or what? Do I need anything else? Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Need a hair dryer to set the paint. I tried the painters tape and it pulled paint off. I might try it again but first time I did it was poor results. You will need it for the bills or regular masking tape. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted March 12, 2010 Super User Posted March 12, 2010 make sure your paint is fully dry (heat set too, preferably) before you put the painters tape on your bait. also, stick the tape on your t-shirt or jeans a few times to make it less sticky before you put it on your bait too. This is good advice, I figured this out on accident. I dropped the tape on my shirt and noticed is had less tack. I would imagine you could use frisket as well, but I have never used it.' Hair dryer is very important. assorted mesh's for scale patterns. You can use manilla envelopes for makin lines or gills. I use engineer stencil (ill post pics) works well. Quote
