Gerber Multi-Plier 600. It opens with one hand and is still made here in the USA. I've broken two over 15 years and Gerber replaced them both under warranty.

Leatherman in jeep and small one in range bag. Fishing bag a few specific fishing tools: long tweezers, long nose fishing pliers/hook remover, braid scissors.

Leatherman Charge . I dont go fishing without it. Besides the pliers and two knife blades it has a diamond file which is the best hook sharpener I have used . I also honed the eyeglass screwdriver to a point and use it to bust paint out of jig head eyes . The Wave would be the same thing and much less expensive . I picked up mine at a pawn shop .

Oh well.  It's still a great multi-tool.

I carry a Leatherman Wave in my pack, along with ID's, money & checks, hygiene items, meds and so forth.   It is a back up tool you use when you have to.   My tool box in my truck & boat is pretty well stocked.  Given a choice between using the Leatherman or a real set of needle nose pliers, I'll choose the real pliers.   For most fishing stuff, long nose fishing pliers are much more easier to use than the Leatherman is.  When there are screws and/or bolts that need to be tightened, use a proper tool if possible.

 

I think that multi tools are handy as back ups, but given a choice I'll use a real tool first if possible.  JMO

I have leathermans, gerbers sogs and also schrade tough tools with the needle nose vicegrips i use them the most,,all are good though,i have a tendancy to find most of mine on the side of the roads though have a eye for that stuff,

For boat fishing, the individual tools designed for specific functions are better than the mulit-tools.  I think the real value of a multi-tool is to carry on a trip or in your car/truck so you can handle the unexpected stuff that comes up.  For wading, maybe they make more sense.

I do keep a Leatherman Wave on the boat despite having most of the individual full-size tools.

I also rarely use my Leatherman. Back when I wore Carhartts I always had it on my side pocket. Then I got a few pairs of cheap pliers so I didn't drop my Leatherman in the water-happened to my brother in law. I keep it in my boat for emergencies.

I have "Multi tools", one Lews 7" aluminum pliers with some awesome cutters, one Rapalla shears, one Rapalla needle nose.... and my two hands...

I have a Leatherman super tool. I don't use it much, but it has served me well when needed over the last 17 or so years. I have to say that it has held up well. It doesn't do anything as well as a tool designed specifically for a given job but it does a heck of a job at doing many different jobs while being wrapped up in a small package.

Always have a Gerber on my right hip, except for the more formal opticians. I have been asked to remove it because it was " a weapon" . I don't go to those places any more.
