Super User new2BC4bass Posted December 5, 2015 Super User Posted December 5, 2015 Takes way too long to retrieve the lure before I can make another cast. 6 Quote
Fisher-O-men Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Yeah, you can cast a mile, but with that 7 to 1 ratio, if you crank really fast you'll be casting again in no time! Quote
John G Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Because the rod is so sensitive that you are getting a thrill just very slowly draggin and hoppin jigs and soft plastics so that you can feel anything and everything on the bottom? Quote
Super User tomustang Posted December 6, 2015 Super User Posted December 6, 2015 Just think, you'll have to keep an eye out to make sure your knot is good so you won't spool off your line Quote
ABW Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Powell needs to bring that line of rods back. 1 Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted December 6, 2015 Author Super User Posted December 6, 2015 Obviously a tongue in cheek post. Purchased reel used last year. Spooled on what was left of a filler spool of 12# Siege Neon Tangerine. Lacked about an 1/8 or so from filling. Since 1/16 to 1/8 inch below the rim is how most manuals suggest filling reels, I decided to use it that way. Was getting better than average distance so the low fill wasn't hurting casting distance much. Reel has only been mounted on the Powell. Decided I wanted to take this reel with me next year on my visit to Florida. Because of that I decided to remove a few yards (so no chance of casting into the knot) and finished filling with some 55# Daiwa Samurai left over from filling another reel. John, I wasn't fishing bottom contact (although I probably should have been). Nor was I reeling fast, O-man. Thus it was taking some time to get the lure back. I always thought a Medium action rod would cast the furthest, but this XF rod really slings a lure. The combo makes even me look like I know what I am doing with a baitcast reel. This is my only experience with a Powell rod. Also purchased used. I wouldn't mind seeing Powell bringing back this line either. Tom, I don't have your power swing so no chance of me spooling the reel. I will leave that to you. 2 Quote
smallies24/7 Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 LOVE those rods. Would be huge if Powell brought them back, and probably a good business decision on their part as well. Quote

Super User rippin-lips Posted December 6, 2015 Super User Posted December 6, 2015 My favorite rod for under $200. I owned 5 out of the lineup and the 723 is the one that I won't sell. I'd sell my Orochi xx before the 723. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Yep I have the 723 in both the endurance and timax lineup. It's a sweet rod! 1 Quote
Jon G Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 They were awesome rods for price. They were also a beautiful color! Quote
Diggy Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 They balance as well as someone on a circus tight rope Quote

WdyCrankbait Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 I used to have the same combo. I ended up selling off the reel, but kept the rod. My Powell Endurance is responsible for 95% over the bass caught in the past 5 years. Awesome rod! Quote

WdyCrankbait Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 The unpopular Quantum EXO 100HPT. I sold my Curado 200E7 off to DVT over the summer. Quote

Super User new2BC4bass Posted December 8, 2015 Author Super User Posted December 8, 2015 The unpopular Quantum EXO 100HPT. I sold my Curado 200E7 off to DVT over the summer. My buddy Dan (not the one getting angry) feels the EXO reels (both 100 and 150) are the best Quantums ever made. He gets a chuckle out of reviewers who say it fell apart after only 2 outings and that will teach them to stick with a Curado the next time. 1 Quote

Personally, I think they are outstanding! Granted, my Curado 200E7 was pretty good to. No complaints on either, I just needed a lighter, more ergonomic reel and the EXO fit the bill. Quote
