GoCougs14 Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Rods: st croix Reels: shimano Lures: jigs and frogs! I started fishing in early summer this year, and I remember mid summer when I thought that all the reservoirs had too much grass to fish! Little did I know frogs are perfect for that. I knew frogs existed but I never had much confidence in them. Gonna get a MH St croix and use it for both jigs and frogs. I was tempted to use fluro but id really like to be able to throw a frog on it too so itll be the best all purpose. Quote
68camaro Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Really want to get off shore with small canoe or raft. Quote

Cmiller Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 My purchase for next season is going to be an hds7 and learn how to use it. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted December 7, 2015 Super User Posted December 7, 2015 I don't need any more rods and reels. I don't need much more in the way of baits either. As for what do I want to try next year?  It will be to fish places/ponds/lakes I have not fished before. I enjoy trying new places. Nothing like a change of scenery from time to time. 1 Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted December 7, 2015 Super User Posted December 7, 2015 I want to try fishing, like I used to. The last two years have been pathetic. I've fished so little I don't know why I even own any gear, let alone the amount of stuff I have. Next year will be better. 1 Quote

reb67 Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Stop trying to learn more and try to execute what I have learned and then progress to the next step. One thing I have noticed in the 3 short years I have been bass fishing is the industry really targets the newest and best trends (shocking right)but what I have learned if you take the time and go back and read all the post that that these guy have put out there you need to learn the basics. The fish, the fishes habits, how the conditions effects the fish in the area you fish. 2 Quote
thebillsman Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Rod: KLX Reels: More Lews Baits: 2016 is the year of the Crankbait This is also my first go with fluorocarbon Should be an interesting season. I am committed to improving my crankbait production. Went out and bought a KLX on Black Friday and a 5.6:1 Lews LFS in hopes of more success. 1 Quote
Gilbone Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Rod: Duckett Heavy Reel: *** by *** Baits : Big Swimbaits and frogs  ive been bass fishing for about 3 years now but last winter i got into tournament fishing. This past year i would go to a local pond or on the bank of the lake and just try new things. I would only take one rod with that specific thing. A jig or a shakey head or a crank bait etc.. Now swim baits have got my eyes. I fished frogs a few times this summer and have a little luck but im wanting to do it alot more. Quote
tander Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Got a new St Croix spinning rod 6'9" ML for Ned Rig and Drop Shoting, would like to work on both of these techniques next year. Quote
travis23 Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 I really want to start throwing big glide baits/swimbaits...along with everyone else lol I bought some good ones last year, but just didn't get a chance to use them as much as needed. I need a swimbait setup to start. I know there are not many, if any at all, throwing big swimbaits in WV. I'd like to get on it before they do! 1 Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted December 8, 2015 Super User Posted December 8, 2015 Well, I've got a new 6:1 Metanium, a 301D Curado, and a new Stradic that all need broken in.  As far as baits, I'm going to get into trying some of the larger swim/glide baits. Much like Travis, they're not too popular here in PA, so hopefully it will give the fish a different look that they haven't seen in all of the heavily pressured water around here.  Aside from that, I really want to try fishing with jigs some more. They're one bait that I've never really used or cared for, as I'm more of a moving baits kinda guy, but I know they're great for catching numbers and big fish. So I suppose its time I get on board. Quote
BacklashBassin' Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Next year I plan to focus on different techniques that I usually don't use often like drop shotting, and wacky rigs, these are good techniques to have up your sleeves when the bass want something much more finesse. Quote
BigSkyBasser Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Rods: I'm getting into custom built rods. I'm wrapping guides on a 7'2" M RainShadow Immortal Spinning rod and a 7' MH MHX High modulus casting blank  Reels: I'm going to upgrade my Pflueger president to a Patriarch or Supreme. And Rig my new MHX with a Shimano Citica.  Line: I've been looking at using straight flouro on drop shot and finesse spinning. The P Line Halo is some sweet stuff.  Baits: We don't use 'Bama rigs and chatterbaits up here much. I'm gonna see if I can stir up the tournament scene with some Quote
Lendiesel22 Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Next season is all about electronics for me. 3 Quote
Super User bigbill Posted December 8, 2015 Super User Posted December 8, 2015 Use more,,,, Plastics Try different swimbaits hard and soft. Throw more topwater, different brands, colors, sizes. Use spinnerbaits more. Use jigs more. Fish, fish more, fish everyday. Fish different places. Quote
RyneB Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 The Ned rig. I had a few tourney back boaters who caught fish on it, but didn't take the plunge. I grabbed everything during the black Friday sales. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted December 9, 2015 Super User Posted December 9, 2015 I want to try not to fall out of the boat....2 years in a row I have fallen out at least once. Other than that, I want to try and not break anything. 5 Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted December 9, 2015 Super User Posted December 9, 2015 Spend more time on finding the best spots on the bodies of water I fish to catch more big bass. Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted December 9, 2015 Super User Posted December 9, 2015 For me I want to get out on the lake more and keep up all the bank fishing on the river that I do. As far as lake techniques I want to work with a rig I made up a couple of years ago some more that I haven't really tossed much. I got so into the swim jig thing this year that it ended up being all I tossed on the lakes. I did use the Ned rig with a lot of success on the river, I now want to take that to the lakes too. On the river I dabbled with top waters this year and had some success. Next year I want to work some buzz baits, frogs, cigar baits, and poppers to learn what they are about and how and when to fish them successfully. Quote
