The best thing to do when starting out is read, read, read. That's what I did when I started out.

When I have free time at school and after homework other than fishing I spend on the forums and the article section. It really helped me.

I think the biggest thing is to spend the most time on the water as possible. The guy in the stand or with the rod in his hand the most will be the best outdoorsman. So that will be it for me, is spending more time in the outdoors with friends and family. After all, that's what is really important.

Large swimbaits, large swimbaits, large swimbaits, glidebaits, large swimbaits.  Been buying a bunch of swimbaits either used or on sale this past year, hoping to try them out starting in the spring.  This past summer was chatterbaits and squarebills which I now feel very confident in.

I have been saying for the last two years I am going to build confidence in my jig fishing but every year I cant put the shaky head and crankbait down.

Look at fishing the Bass Patrol football jigs, they are a smaller jig. Try using the 1/4 oz where you would fish a shakeyhead, and you can swim the 3/8oz as well.  Both work well with smaller 2.5 to 3" trailers (I used tiny paca chunks on the 1/4 and 2.5" Trigger X Flappin Craws. 3" Flappin Craws and Paca Chunks on the 3/8 as well as Tiny Paca Craws)  May help you get some faith in jig fishing once you start catching fish on them to throw a jig more often.  And they do catch big fish as well.

Next season, I would like to try to fill up the live well on one of these as many times as humanly possible.

This past season I intended to try the Ned rig but I never even bought the pieces parts for it.  And I rarely picked up my spinning rod anyway as I mainly fished jigs on a baitcaster.  So... I want to (try again to) try out the Ned rig next season.

This season is going to be about big bass. I was blessed with some big fish this last year while just fishing for fish, but this year I would love to be blessed with big fish while fishing for big fish :D.

I'm making it a point next season to go back to a few older patterns that I use to fish. It's funny how you move away from patterns that work only to go onto something else that is good and you don't pick it up again. On slow days and light bites days this past season I dug deeper into my tackle compartments and grabbed some old school stuff out and fished it. Caught a few nice fish by doing that. Get back to doing some serious tube, slider and salty spider fishing. Something new - Build a few topwater baits, build a rod kit, maybe start making some jig heads.

Anything that is by River2Sea is great by me.

I understand completely. Jerkbaits were my go to baits then I started using other things and went about 2 years without picking a jerkbait up again.

As far as baits and gear. Going to continue using what works. Nothing new I the mix. Thought about switching things up a little and rather than always fishing early morning for bass during the summer, fishing some evenings as well. I used to do it quite often but it's been a few years as most of my evening fishing, as of late, has been geared towards walleye. If my shoulder is fixed, I'm hoping to get into club fishing again as well as taking extended fishing trips. My son has been my partner for both of these events and I miss spending time with him.

I'm going to spend more time trying to figure out what kind of fish are showing up on my depth finder . I know twp spots that are always stacked with fish and I have caught a few bass there . I cant help but think that someplace on those deep flats is a spot full of big bass , I just have to put in the time and find them .

Underwater camera....then you can visually see what you're looking at.

Really just fish more. This year I had quite a few medical setbacks that cut my fishing time down. Hoping and praying 2016 brings better health and more fishing opportunities!
