Brett Strohl Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 What would be a really good casting rod for larger buzz baits that is reasonably priced? Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted December 3, 2015 Super User Posted December 3, 2015 my favorite rod that i have for buzzbaits is my 6'10" MH/F Daiwa Tatula.... but what is "reasonably priced"? that might help narrow down the array of answers you'll likely receive Quote
Brett Strohl Posted December 3, 2015 Author Posted December 3, 2015 7ft mh ghost Maybe! But is it's bend parabolic enough!?!?! Quote
thebillsman Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 The Fury 705CB might be a good shout.. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted December 3, 2015 Super User Posted December 3, 2015 I throw buzzbaits on any of my mh/f rods. Never had any issue with hookups. I prefer a rod without a parabolic bend because I throw them along the edge of pads a lot. I want to be able to get them out of there if the fish tries to make a run for cover. I have the 705cb that was mentioned above. I wouldn't ever use that for buzzbaits. It's way too soft of a rod for that technique. Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted December 4, 2015 Super User Posted December 4, 2015 Another vote for a fast action rod for buzzbaits. A M-F or MH-F at around 7' is going to be your bread and butter. 1 Quote

Regardless of the brand or pricing point, whatever you are using for "single hooks" will work just fine. Perhaps more importantly, a fast reel is a must. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted December 4, 2015 Super User Posted December 4, 2015 I would suggest the new new St. Croix Mojo Bass in 6'8" in MH/F. It'll be a pretty versatile rod in general, and will excel with buzzbaits. It comes in just a few dollars over budget. Otherwise, I think they still have some of the older Mojo Bass's left too for $89 if you were looking for a cheaper option. Quote
Super User gulfcaptain Posted December 4, 2015 Super User Posted December 4, 2015 7' mh/mf falcon bucoo X2 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 5, 2015 Global Moderator Posted December 5, 2015 I use a 7' M/F St. Croix Premier and have for almost 10 years now, never had a reason to switch. Quote
Jon G Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 I use a 6'8 Medium St Croix LTB (rod in my profile pic). I acquired it January and used it extensively this season it has been one of my favorite rods for any bait that does not have a heavy hook that requires a lot of backbone to set the hook with. Quote
