Carterjig68 Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Hey I've got some reels and was wondering if you could rank them from best to worst. Not for any particular technique but the quality in general. The reels are as follows. Shimano Curado 200e7 Shimano Chronarch 200e7 Shimano Chronarch ci4+ Shimano Scorpion HG Lews BB1 pro speed spool Quote
EvanT123 Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 You have the reels. Why not rank them for us? 3 Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted December 1, 2015 Super User Posted December 1, 2015 They are all quality reels. Ranking them would be pointless and subjective at best. 2 Quote
Carterjig68 Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 For me they are fairly new so it would be hard to rank them so early but I wanted to hear others opinions on it Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted December 1, 2015 Super User Posted December 1, 2015 Keep in mind this is a 14 year old youngster, so take it easy on him Only reel on that list that I have is a Curado 201E7. I like it a lot.......a whole lot. From the reading I've done on those reels I would say likes and dislikes are going to vary based on an individual's preferences. Not a bad one in the bunch. 1 Quote

Super User MIbassyaker Posted December 1, 2015 Super User Posted December 1, 2015 Every one of those reels is nicer than anything I have. Whichever one gets ranked lowest, I'll be happy to take it off your hands... 3 Quote

Op it sounds like your trying to figure out what to buy. As stated before you would probably not be disappointed with any of those choices. Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted December 1, 2015 Super User Posted December 1, 2015 VERY subjective topic here, but i'll play.... and this is merely my opinion. HOWEVER you rank them, it's one killer collection for a youngster or anyone for that matter! congratulations on a fine stable of reels you have there. i do own the curado 201e and the chronarch ci4+ 151 1. Shimano Chronarch ci4+2. Lews BB1 pro speed spool 3. Shimano Scorpion HG 4. Shimano Chronarch 200e7 5. Shimano Curado 200e7 Quote
Super User South FLA Posted December 1, 2015 Super User Posted December 1, 2015 1. Shimano Chronarch ci4+ 2. Shimano Scorpion HG (JDM version of new model Curado, with I believe two extra bearings and cool burgundy color) 3a. Shimano Chronarch 200e7 3b. Shimano Curado 200e7 4. Lews BB1 pro speed spool I have own, owned, or tried all the above mentioned reels, the rubber thumb-bar covering will eventually fail on the CI4+ and its annoying, Curado E7 is a proven performer and highly sought after, I sold a new in box one not to long ago for a premium over what I paid for it! 1 Quote
Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted December 1, 2015 Super User Posted December 1, 2015 1. Shimano Chronarch ci4+2. Shimano Scorpion HG 3. Shimano Curado 200e7 4. Shimano Chronarch 200e7 5. Lews BB1 pro speed spool 3 Quote

Except id rank the Curado higher just because I've tried for so long to get it and it is supertuned. Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted December 1, 2015 Super User Posted December 1, 2015 They are all good reels and will get the job done.Let him choose the one he wants. Quote
Super User tomustang Posted December 1, 2015 Super User Posted December 1, 2015 Steak > Chinese food > Stuffed Shells > Pizza > Peanut Butter Captain Crunch Substitute stuff shells with shellfish and you got the list Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted December 1, 2015 Super User Posted December 1, 2015 Substitute stuff shells with shellfish and you got the list Blasphemy! Quote
Super User MIbassyaker Posted December 1, 2015 Super User Posted December 1, 2015 shellfish > steak Sorry, it's true. Quote
k3bass Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 How can you guys rate the curado or chronarch E's at different ratings? Aren't they the same reel? 1 Quote

Global Moderator Mike L Posted December 1, 2015 Global Moderator Posted December 1, 2015 Youngster... Look, regardless of some of the playing around, the majority of the guys here would salavate all over themselves (I know I would) if they had a choice of reels to use that you have..you're very lucky. Now, IMHO They are all quality reels that will give you years of use, so no problem choosing there... They are all basically the same size so you'll have to fish each to see which feels better to you for a long day... Check the spool sizes you have, don't use a smaller spool one which will carry less line if you plan on bombing big crank or hard swim baits... Lastly, compare the reel speed of each for what you want to do.. A high speed reel, 6:5.1 or higher are best used for presentations that you'd want to take up line as quick as you can. For me that means anything thrown on top, or on the bottom. Good Luck, and go have some fun. Mike Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted December 1, 2015 Super User Posted December 1, 2015 Out of curiosity, why do you ask? What will you do when you get them 'ranked' by 'us'? 1 Quote

The reels are as follows. Shimano Curado 200e7 Shimano Chronarch 200e7 Shimano Chronarch ci4+ Shimano Scorpion HG Lews BB1 pro speed spool Ranking best to worst is totally subjective as already mentioned here. Go out and use them and you'll find your favorites. Price/quality/reputation are all pointless if you don't like it. Now if you were shopping for a new reel your question would be more valid as others can give you a place to start. My experience - I have both Chronarch models you mention. I don't care for the 200e7 at all. Actually, I prefer my Daiwa Tatula-100 that costs 1/2 as much as the Shimano. My Tatula type R smokes the 200e7 which i find comparible to the Ci4 (which I like except for the price) Why don't you tell us what you think? Your experience, preference, and why.... 1 Quote

I am with you on the Tatula, outcast, smooth, great drag and you can get them for about $140 on sale! That is why I sold a new in box 200e7 and bought 2 New Type Rs! 1 Quote
