Dypsis Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 I hear and read about people having their reels super tuned. What does that process actually entail? Is it a more thorough cleaning, or upgrading the drag, bearings? Just curious? Matt Quote

Generally I think of new bearings and drag washers as "upgrades" since you are replacing stock parts with new aftermarket parts. Flushing spool bearings and a thorough cleaning are more of maintenance thing. It means different things to different folks similar to describing the characteristics of a rod. 1 Quote

Delaware Valley Tackle Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Super Tuning is polishing of friction pints that affect casting. Bearings, drag etc are supplemental upgrades that can further enhance reel performance. Reels with free floating spools like many Daiwas and Revos do not benefit from super tuning yet many shops will still sell you the service. I will not.
