fayegarnett Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Thankfully, the window of no-fishing in my parts of VA are narrow. Much more narrow than when I lived in Western NY. Don't miss it there at all... There's no "bass season" here, as it is year around. I'll keep fishing when time permits, and honey-do lists don't overrule fishing time. Dam, i am moving the Western NY, buffalo, to be exact in Jan. I heard i won't be able to fish until Apr. What am i gonna do? Quote
Super User Spankey Posted November 28, 2015 Super User Posted November 28, 2015 I also have a list of things to get caught up on. No problem. They seem to get done. But, I also shoot a lot of trap, skeet and sporting clays during the year. A lot of my shooting can be done at night during the week. I like to play around with some trout during the winter. Trying to self teach myself to fly fish over the last few winters. The trout are very close to home also. Quote
Catch 22 Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 I love the winter fishing. Quite serene usually all alone on the water. Light wind, little bit of snow falling, I`m in heaven. Take care of the honey do`s in the heat of summer.. C22 Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted November 28, 2015 Super User Posted November 28, 2015 Generally when I can't fish, I wait for someone to post what is the best $100 rod or reel. 1 Quote
Rick Howard Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Dam, i am moving the Western NY, buffalo, to be exact in Jan. I heard i won't be able to fish until Apr. What am i gonna do? Lol I just moved from buffalo. If your north of the 90.. You use your shovel a normal amount... If your south of the 90... Buy a snow blower. Maybe a truck and plow. Unless you ice fish... April is going to be a likely starting time. Quote

Super User HoosierHawgs Posted November 29, 2015 Super User Posted November 29, 2015 Currently on my Winter Reading list: WinterReading.jpg Where did you find the Denny Brauer book? That would be a great read anytime! Quote
BradGuenette Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 It's real bad for us up here in Ontario, Canada we will have ice in a couple weeks from now, then bass doesn't open again until mid June next year. Ice fishing and a mid winter trip week long down south helps, but it's still unbearable at times! Quote
Super User MIbassyaker Posted November 29, 2015 Super User Posted November 29, 2015 Where did you find the Denny Brauer book? That would be a great read anytime! On Amazon for a few dollars, used. And get this -- when it arrives, here is what I find on the inside: : 2 Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted November 29, 2015 Super User Posted November 29, 2015 From the time I put the boat away for the winter till I get out again in the spring, I am always thinking about fishing. I ice fish a little, but it's of no help. I do have other hobbies, but none that I am as stupid for as bass fishing. 1 Quote
Caliyak Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Thinks more about fishing, and or wanting to go when i cant? What does everyone do in the winter time? Fish in the freezing 40 degree weather in Cali. Quote

BaitMonkey1984 Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Just replaced all my split rings and hooks on all my hard baits. After hunting season ends, I usually go stir crazy until the ice freezes. Quote
Steveo-1969 Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 I get to open water fish all winter. It gets cold here in the eastern panhandle of WV but I'm lucky that the river I fish doesn't freeze. And it has some walleyes in it. And once in a while I even get one of them to bite. Quote
lo n slo Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Sinking brush and fishing during warming trends. Power plant lake nearby does'nt hurt. Things slow down, I like what the guy said about having the lake to yourself. Wintertime on the water can be a different world. 1 Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted December 1, 2015 Super User Posted December 1, 2015 Fish, workout, spend time with my family, repeat. Quote

PAPADUDE Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 I spend as much time as I can in my deer stand and in my shop tinkering with hunting and fishing gear. Here is a small buck I just got this past month. image hosting above 5 mb 6 Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted December 1, 2015 Super User Posted December 1, 2015 I just go fishing in the winter, but then again, I'm in Florida. Actually had to wear socks with my Crocs day before yesterday when I went. Still in shirt sleeves though. I never hated and loved a post at the same time. Made me laugh. Lmao. Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted December 1, 2015 Super User Posted December 1, 2015 I tend to read, workout and revisit all my tackle. Since I just discovered I like saltwater Fishing from the surf I have a few books to get me ready for that next year too. I also ice fish so now it's just a matter of waiting for the lakes to freeze over. 1 Quote
desmobob Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Ice fishing! And lots of reading, a little snowshoeing, some grouse hunting, and plenty of bass tackle fondling. Tight lines, Bob 1 Quote
WPCfishing Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Good thread....................................................... I'm so sick of living in the North East. Making the best of it. 1 Quote
BassMaster17 Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 I pike fish through the ice a little but it gets boring to me. so i organize tackle, read articles, and pretty much just prepare for next year. i try to keep my mind off it and do other hobbies or else it would drive me nuts. Quote
