I just go fishing in the winter, but then again, I'm in Florida.

Actually had to wear socks with my Crocs day before yesterday when I went. Still in shirt sleeves though.

-Read up on books, articles

-Practice short casts and pitches in the backyard snow.

-Reel maintenance

-Tackle re-organization

-Tie skirts for jigs, spinnerbaits, etc. (I'm trying this for the first time this year).

I fish, just have to wear a jacket, pick up the swimbait rod and the a-rig and go.  Then again it's supposed to rain pretty good this winter in S.Cal so might have to put on my rain gear and deck boots as well.  But I'll still be fishing.

I try to get out if the water isn't frozen. If there is ice I reorganize tackle, sharpen hooks, and check out my fishing holes. I also look for new lakes to fish in.

I know how you feel.  Believe me I do.

But it's a long hard cold winter for those of us who have to endure it so I try not to torture myself.

I ease up a bit on the fishing stuff at least a little.  Working out - some dog sledding, and the NFL & NHL help distract me a bit.

And although I always say I'm not going to do it, as the spring time nears, I will admit to working myself up into a rather wild frenzy . . . .

I ice fish, snowmobile, and make lures. I may travel to go fishing if we have ice late into spring.

Ice fish. Read fishing books n mags, organize tackle, keep batteries charged once a month, restring some reels, research bodiesvof water.

Stare at boat.

Sadly I finally put the kayak and all the tackle away today.

Now I just make sure all the gear is ready for spring spawn.

Winter time is for snow shoeing and shooting guns.

Thankfully, the window of no-fishing in my parts

of VA are narrow. Much more narrow than when

I lived in Western NY. Don't miss it there at all...

There's no "bass season" here, as it is year around.

I'll keep fishing when time permits, and honey-do

lists don't overrule fishing time.

I have a boat that's a pain to tow, unload, load and park, recover, etc. But I have a friend who will fish maybe once a week in the coldest weather. He's my real-time fishing report. And I'll go with him every couple weeks, weather permitting. Beyond that, I watch YouTube vids and buy stuff online for next season.

I went today in the kayak. As long as it's sunny and mild, that'd an otpion.

As long as the wind not blowing bad, I will fish year round. I pretty much fish the area that I launch from.

I wish I could just hibernate and wake up when the ice is off the lakes. :eyebrows:

I started learning how to play the guitar last winter to help pass the time.  I'm still doing that.  I also just bought an ATV (Polaris Sportsman 570), so I think I am going to spend some time riding that.  Other than that, work, tackle inventory, re-spooling my reels, watching fishing shows on youtube and TV are going to have to do.

Beer and scotch help. Otherwise, lots of videos and reading. Also try to get in some fishing if we are able to get someplace warmer.

Not very often I'm not thinking about fishing.

Thanks to 2 power plant lakes within a reasonable drive for a day trip, I fish all winter long.

I workout and buy fishing tackle that I will never use lol. I think I have gotten better at purchasing things I know I will put to good use though. I have a few rods to build and have taken up reading books on American history.

Winter is the time to get caught up on all the odds and ends around the house.  Every hour spent on them over the winter is one more hour I can spend on the water when the weather is much warmer.

Come next season the only stuff I do around the house is mow the lawn, and tend to the gardens.  It takes me a couple of hours to trim and mow the lawn per week, and less than that to putter around in the gardens.  I can fish seven days per week, weather permitting when the warm weather arrives. There are two excellent small ponds no more than five minutes from my door.  One is a quarter mile across and a half mile long.  The other is a half mile across and about a mile long.  Both produce numbers and size.

I fish those two ponds from my canoe with a trolling motor.  One has a public ramp, the other is surrounded by private property.

Sit around bored. :( And setup my aquaponics system so I can keep a couple of pet yellow perch.
