Hello friends,

Those of you that have fished both rods, can you tell me the differences? I know the 6'6" will be more accurate and the 7' will cast further but can you tell me if there is any difference in power, action or tip stiffness?

Thanks!

While I can't help in comparing the two as I only have the 783C, I can give my thoughts on it if that would be beneficial?

thanks but I actually own the 783c. trying to justify the purchase of the 843 ;)

edit:

wont hurt to give your thoughts...

ive handled the 843 glx but couldnt tell much of a difference between it and the 783 although i did not have them side by side. it did feel a little stiffer than the nrx 843.

783c is one of my favorite rods. spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, swimjigs, buzzbaits, traps. jigs and t-rig. all feel right on this rod.

prefer the rod over my 843 nrx for an all around type rod.

I ordered the MBR 843c GLX.

In case anyone is interested, this is from a member of another forum:

"The MBR783 GLX is a great all around rod. I use it for top water, TX rigs, jigs, spinner baits or anything really. The length is an advantage for tip down applications as already mentioned, but extra length would be nice for longer casts and more line movement on hook sets at distance. I wish my MBR843 had the same taper, it has a much softer tip and doesn't feel as crisp for bottom contact with weights around 3/8oz. The 843 is better a lighter work though, smaller senkos, shaky heads, ect."

I didn't know the MBR series GLX was still in production? The newer GLX isn't the same rod blank, it's very similar to the NRX series now. GLX 853 JWR would be the current number I believe. The IMX series would be a better match, not a expert on Loomis rods, however.

Surprised the MBR843C GLX is still being produced, it came out over 20 years ago!

Bantam1 said the Classic Mag Bass Line isn't going anywhere. I think that he's right in regards to the GLX's but not the IMX's.
