Super User RoLo Posted December 5, 2015 Super User Posted December 5, 2015 As A-jay wisely stated, suicide is often committed to end the pain, and not necessarily to end life. I'm confident that everyone on the forum realizes that no one is immune to clinical depression, and that suicide is a highly sensitive subject. C&G felt he had an important message to share, and though he may have rushed the title, his message came from a good place. The fact that he felt compelled to post this message, tells me that he knows a little something about the subject. Super User NorcalBassin Posted December 5, 2015 Super User Posted December 5, 2015 Unfortunately we'll never know why most people decided that was what they felt they had to do in that moment. Some friends of ours had their popular seemingly trouble free 16 year old son take his life... starter on the football team, good grades, very popular, and no known drama in his life. One of my employees' husbands also took his life out of the blue following a small argument... just a couple rooms away from his wife and 3 children. Unfortunately it just never makes sense to the rest of us. The one thing I think we can all agree on is that it takes pain from the one suffering and passes it on to all of their loved ones for the rest of their lives. Definitely a tragedy and hopefully something that some day becomes much more rare.
Super User Sam Posted December 5, 2015 Super User Posted December 5, 2015 If someone says something about them wanting to kill themselves or hurt themselves, no matter how awkward it might be, you have to tell someone so they can get help. Idk why I'm posting this, just a psa I guess lol... http://jasonfoundation.com/
Super User RoLo Posted December 5, 2015 Super User Posted December 5, 2015 I really just wish this thread would end. I couldn’t agree less. BR members discuss at great length “frivolous” topics like lure colors, braid brands and bass scents. In the “Everything Else” forum, why should anyone feel uncomfortable talking about a serious, real-world topic like suicide, which in fact might be part of the problem. Never underestimate the power of your heartfelt opinion, and never hesitate to offer a friend in need the benefit of your undivided attention and insight. A person in dire straits is more likely to be rescued by free advice from a sincere friend, than the high-priced advice from a professional stranger who couldn't care less. Roger 2
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted December 6, 2015 Super User Posted December 6, 2015 My uncle took his life a little over 2 years ago. Great fisherman and a very wise man. None of us knew the inner demons he dealt with. I think about him every day. Suicide is something that simply cannot be explained. I feel for anyone who has gone through it.

Roger Roger - Your points are well-founded. However, the title and first post of this thread are misguided, as are several other posts within. This is a topic that has touched my life and I don't think this thread does it much justice. 1

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 6, 2015 Global Moderator Posted December 6, 2015 I believe this topic is just a little too sensitive of an area for us to delve into any further. I know it was an attempt to help those that may be dealing with their own inner demons or with the unforeseen loss of someone close to them, but it really isn't something that can be explained or understood as it really varies so widely from person to person. If you need help, get it please, that is all. LOCKDOWN! 1
