desmobob Posted November 19, 2015 Author Posted November 19, 2015 Super Double issue eh ? Saddam vs Bush.. Lol I loved that publication! I always thought about subscribing but by the time I figured I would, they folded (2007). It was the "professional wrestling" of newspapers... a few thought it was real; others enjoyed it as humor. There were even T-shirts available showing some of their best cover stories, including the "farmer shoots 23-pound grasshopper" thing in my post. Good stuff! Tight lines, Bob Quote

5 Dollar Fishing Game Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 FAKE! That grasshopper is no more than 20lbs......... 1 Quote

desmobob Posted November 19, 2015 Author Posted November 19, 2015 Taste like chicken? Good question! Can you imagine how hard it would be to cut into an insect that large to field dress it? I think you'd need a pretty stout, serrated knife... Come to think of it, I have eaten crickets, but not grasshoppers. I bought a small box of them at a nature museum gift shop. The crickets were fried, and salt-and-vinegar flavored. They were light as a feather, so I guess all the liquids cook out of them in the deep frier. They tasted like... salt and vinegar. Nothing else. Tight lines, Bob Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted November 19, 2015 Super User Posted November 19, 2015 In Mexico, you can get 'chapulines' in restaurants. 1 Quote
Super User bigbill Posted November 19, 2015 Super User Posted November 19, 2015 Some eateries here are changing there menus to all ethnic back grounds. Sounds like more middle east and Mexican foods. Quote

Super User bigbill Posted November 19, 2015 Super User Posted November 19, 2015 If we fry the giant grasshopper the wings taste crispy like potato chips. The trout tails do when we fry them. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted November 19, 2015 Super User Posted November 19, 2015 FAKE! That grasshopper is no more than 20lbs......... You are correct. Just after the picture was taken five pounds of lead bird shot fell out of its mouth. Grasshoppers Unlimited has disallowed the weight, and is considering sanctions against Big Bill. 2 Quote
